Events / GABF Travel

Me and a buddy of mine have decided to go to the GABF this year.  I hope it doesn't turn out to be a zoo like most of the other beer festivals in the US nowadays.  I have fond memories of 1997 and 1998.  However, I just got off the phone with several of the hotels listed on the GABF page and a lot of them are already out of rooms with two beds.  The only one I could find that had a decent rate was the Hilton Garden Inn for $189.00/night.

Also, I got a better deal on a flight going directly to the airline.  I beat all of the other travel web sites by using the GABF rates for the hotel and going directly to the airline.

If you're thinking about going, get your travel reservations NOW!!!  Tickets go on sale this Tuesday!

General Homebrew Discussion /

Does anyone know anything about this site?

Some parts of the web site work, others don't.  Doesn't seem like it's too professional.  There isn't any contact information listed and their privacy policy and terms links don't work either.

Does anyone know if this is legit, and does it seem like a reasonable way to study for the test?

All Things Food / Beer Bread
« on: November 09, 2010, 08:29:44 PM »
I had a friend who had some beer bread mix given to them and they used our Bohemian Pilsner to make some.  It tasted freakin' awesome!  It was definitely bread but with a subtle and balanced pilsner flavor to it.

So I scoured the Internet for a decent beer bread recipe.  It seems like all of them settle on something like this:

3 cups self-rising flour
3 tablespoons white sugar
12oz of beer

I've been baking for several years and want to start integrating more homebrew into the recipes.  Today I'm going to make a loaf of IPA bread and American Black Ale (my own style for a beer I've made that isn't a Black IPA or a Brown or a Stout, but sort of steals from all of them) bread.

Has anyone else made homebrew bread and do you have advice / recipes to share?
