All Grain Brewing / Help me make this Plate chiller work!
« on: June 02, 2010, 09:10:32 PM »
Ok so I found this chiller that is same as the Blichman 30plate one and is 1/3 of price.  Only issue is the threads are either 1/2" or 3/4" male or female depending on what you want.  The 1/2" would be easiest to use for me but, then I don't know how it would effect my flow of water going thru it?  I forget if 3/4" is garden hose size but, doubt it?  But, if I get 3/4" I have hard time finding the QD plugs to fit it?  Someone help me?  Here is link for chiller:

All Grain Brewing / Black IPA?
« on: May 24, 2010, 07:58:39 PM »
Ok so when doing a black IPA is it just adding a little black patent or chocolate to recipe or is there more to it?

Having hard time finding them on ebay that are already wired up.  Is it hard to wire them yourself with power cords?

Beer Recipes / Apricot in an ale?
« on: April 12, 2010, 11:56:30 PM »
Ok I know this isn't for everyone but, I had a Dogfishhead Apri hop beer and I actually liked it.  Could I have a keg of it and not get sick of it?  WHo knows?  But, my wife loved it so at least if I get sick of it she won't.  I was thinking of what hops to use in it and figured I would go with citrusy hops like Amarillo and Cascade.  What do you guys think?

Beer Recipes / CAP Recipe ideas?
« on: April 06, 2010, 05:12:53 PM »
I want to start getting better at making my own lager recipes. I am doing a german pils then going to reuse slurry for a CAP.  Now I know the yeast doesn't justify it as a CAP but, I have a bunch of flaked maize I will most likely never use.  HEre is recipe and any guidance will help:

5gal batch
10lb Pils
2lbs Flaked Maize
.5lbs Carapils
1oz Cluster 60min
1oz Saaz FWH
1oz Saaz 5min

Was going to ferment at 50 for 3 weeks then lager at 38 for another 1-2 months.
