Homebrew Clubs / Aggregate Club Competition Results
« on: April 10, 2015, 01:53:07 PM »
I don't see a way on the AHA website to search for aggregate competition winners by club (i.e., all medals won by members of a given club based on the club listed upon entry registration).  Am I missing it?  If this does not exits, it would be a great new feature.

I'd prefer to avoid manually tracking competition winners for our club, when this is already available in a database.

Homebrew Clubs / Club Membership Cards
« on: December 13, 2014, 07:10:30 PM »
What do other clubs do in terms of issuing membership cards or providing some other means for members to prove membership for things like homebrew shop discounts.

As a new, small club (attendance averaging in the mid 20's), I'm not sure cards are really a feasible option.  Are there any digital solutions that can be used in conjunction with smartphones?

Homebrew Clubs / Homebrew Club Meeting Location
« on: May 04, 2014, 03:01:47 PM »
Now that homebrew rights have expanded in KS to allow normal club activities, I've been talking to some guys about starting a club in our area.  Meeting at member homes may be fine for a while, but I imagine we will need a larger space and a static location fairly fast...ideally free.  Any tips for us?

A LHBS has offered to let us use their space, but it's very small and we will easily outgrow it.

I don't think our local community centers allow alcohol.  There are no breweries in the general area where we would like to establish the club.

General Homebrew Discussion / Kansas Homebrewers - Proposed Law Change
« on: February 06, 2013, 05:52:29 AM »
Just this week in KS, new legislation is being proposed to amend the law to allow consumption by non-family members and at other locations besides the maker's home--including in competitions.  I urge KS residents to contact their legislative representatives to encourage them to support the measure.

IMO, here's the best part:

Homemade fermented beverages" means beer or wine produced by a person who is 21 years of age or older, through such person's own efforts and in accordance with K.S.A. 41-104, and amendments thereto, at a place of residence or at another location with permission from the property owner, and not for a commercial purpose, but for consumption by that person or such person's family or guests, or for use at an exhibition, demonstration, judging, tasting, class or sampling, or as part of a contest or competition.
