Hop Growing / Too late to plant?
« on: April 04, 2013, 08:27:59 PM »
Is it too late to plant hop rhizomes? I was just getting ready to order some and thought, I wonder, so I'm asking? I have a brew-club meeting on Sunday and I suppose I could just ask them, but i'm not sure I'm going to be able to make it due to in-laws flying in tomorrow night.

All Grain Brewing / Bru'unWater Profile for APA
« on: March 26, 2013, 04:15:25 PM »
Hi, so the title says it all. Wondering which profile to use. I feel like "Pale Ale" is the obvious choice. Yet I know that the "Burton" style typically lends itself to hoppy, crisp ales.

Here's the recipe:
5-gal est OG1.062

7# 2-row
3# Vienna
1#Victory
1#C-10
1/2# Torrified Wheat

60 min mash at 151

1 oz Citra -60
.5 Cascade -10
.5 Cascade -5
1 oz Cascade -0

Dennys 1450

SO which profile do you think would be best?

Cheers & Thanks!

General Homebrew Discussion / Favorite beer you've ever brewed?
« on: March 22, 2013, 05:22:14 PM »
So what's the favorite beer you've ever brewed? Just curious is all really.

Mine is an Arrogant Bastard clone that I put together myself, after brewing it over a dozen times, it's spot on. Reason it's my favorite, it's the very first beer that got me into real beer in the first place. And the idea of being able to brew it myself? well, that's why I started brewing.

Cheers Brewheads!

Kegging and Bottling / pin vs ball??
« on: March 18, 2013, 01:23:44 PM »
Hi, so after all this time bottling, I'm finally getting sick of it. I've never done the keg thing before due to lack of space, but I think I'm just going to have to put the foot down and get another fridge.

Question is, considering I've never kegged before, what's the best route to go with kegs? Pin lock or Ball lock? Is one type easier to use/clean than the other? I think I remember that pin locks are cheaper? Are there any significant differences that I should be aware of or consider?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers! and thanks!
