General Homebrew Discussion / Looking for O2 system recommendations
« on: April 09, 2014, 07:01:04 AM »
I have been giving some thought to getting an O2 system. I see a fair amount of options out there. I currently have a Brutus style stand, I use a conical fermenter and a spiedel. I was hoping to get some feedback on what has worked for you. I'm open to any suggestions; a budget system that works well for you or if say money was no object I would buy.... Thanks.

General Homebrew Discussion / Looking for some Double Batch advice
« on: March 21, 2014, 07:15:43 AM »
I presently have the capability to ferment 20 gallons in one fermenter. But my brewstand will do 10 gallons in a session. I want to ferment all 20 gallons in the same vessel. My plan is to brew 10 gallons on Saturday and pitch the starter I have going right now. Then on Sunday brew my second 10 gallons and pump that into the already fermenting batch. Aside from potential risk of infection (I am pretty surgical with my clean-up, prep, and sanitizing but that doesn't rule it out as potential factor.)does anyone see any potential flaws or have any advice for this endeavor? I have a 2000ml starter of S-05 which has been very successful in my past 10 gallon bathes for this brew. Also i am using a Brutus build for my brewing, not sure if this necessary information. Thanks in advance.

General Homebrew Discussion / Kitchen sink to QD adapter coupling?
« on: February 05, 2014, 06:15:29 AM »
I'm assuming more than a few of you folks have set up a quick disconnect system from a kitchen sink faucet. I am plumbing a sink into the brewery and I would like to use quick disconnects for the bottle washer, garden hose, plate chiller, etc. The current set up comes from a standard garden hose thread which I was able to get fittings for with no problem. My new faucet has an outside (male) thread, the quick disconnect fitting has an outside (male) thread. I have not been able to find the male QD fitting in any other configuration. I am having a hard time finding a coupling to suit this set-up. Has anyone seen a coupling that would work for this or a have any ideas on a work around to complete the connection?

Thanks

Equipment and Software / Tall Boy kettles and False bottoms
« on: October 31, 2013, 09:33:24 AM »
Hello everyone,
I have been a member here for several months. I haven't submitted posts here due to having most of my questions answered through the forum search function. (the information resource here is amazing)That being said my friend and I are finishing up on a Brutus build and have decided on using the Northern brewer tall boy kettles. I wanted to go with a domed false bottom as there does not seem to be an option for a sized false bottom for these kettles. I was wondering if anyone has used a domed false bottom for these kettles and if so what kind of a connection did you use to attach it to the bulkhead. We are planning on the 15 gallon kettles the dimensions are 15.5 Wide x 18.7 Tall.Would definitely appreciate any and all feedback, if you own and like/don't like it, if you recommend a different kettle over this for a Brutus system, if you have found an alternative to using a domed false bottom, etc...
Thanks in advance, Cheers.
