Yeast and Fermentation / SCORE!!!
« on: March 29, 2014, 10:16:53 AM »
Even tho I am not able to drink much now a days....
I managed to score a vial of ECY Bug Farm yeast.

Since it is prolly a long time (year) from brew to finish beer,
My hope is that I will have healed in that time and can try this.

I am thinking of a nice golden pils wert with the addition of
some unmalted wheat and doing a turbid mash.  To this plan,
I will use some "Aged premium Hops" from puterbaugh farms,
make the house smell like cheese...then make a goodly addition
to the solera after the next forthcoming cherry brett pull from same.....

WHEW....beer is GUD!

Dang I am peeved at Microsoft and the end of XP (RANT)! Anyone else?  My XP system barely opens
a webpage any more.  Guess it is time to puke money for a new system. Or battle the brain cells
to digest a new O.S.....

And dang my ole intestinal tract has staged a coup and a full fleged revolution. I am not
sure how this is going to combine with my beer brewing.  Not being able to consume my beer SUX.

(RANT)

Miss y'all and I will try to touch back to update if my system can keep me active on the www.  ???

Other Fermentables / True Story
« on: December 31, 2013, 03:26:34 PM »
Well, 12 years ago when I bought this place, I put in a planting of crop in the field.
It failed....next year I tried again, it failed to establish....the following year I figured
out the problem and that was the soil had so much sand content, that the seed
soil contact needed to grow a crop, mandated packing of the soil on the seeds.
Finally I got the thing established. I put in Red Clover, White Clover, timothy hay
and a little volunteer alfalfa showed up....the surrounding Russian Olive trees bloomed,
and I had Thousands of little winged workers living in a 3 story white furnished dwelling.

These little workers would travel from flower to flower polinating and sipping nectar
carrying it back to the dwelling to process and store it in the form of Honey and other
goodies.

That fall, I went to the dwelling and tore the roof off and stole a bunch of that honey
from all those pissed off little guys....yeah, they did get some licks in on me...and I cannot
say without a doubt that no bee was harmed in the process....but hey this relationship
has been going on with mankind and bees for a long long time.

Anyhow, I made a few batches of Mead with this honey from the bees I kept and one of
them was niwots vanilla mead recipe, (we sampled this on christmas it has gotten better with age).
The other batch is a Sparkling Mead and the last time I sampled it several years ago, it was
very similiar to champagne. I believe that I used Eau De Vie for the yeast strain.
Well, Tonight being what it is, New Years Eve and all, I
Plan to sample a 10 year Old Bottle of this sparkled mead for posterity. It has been cellared
in the root cellar all this time.  Looking in thru the green glass, it appears the angels have
gotten about 1/8" share out of the bottle. I am hoping it is still pressured up and bubbly for
enjoyment this evening.  (this has been a start to finish project so to speak and I can't believe
that I have held out here in BFE whyo this long)

Happy New Years everyone!  CHEERS

The Pub / So I am out in the garage brewing today
« on: November 10, 2013, 06:06:37 PM »
It is November and we were having a wind free 60 degree bananna belt day

the boil is going I just finished skimming hot break off and I see this thing
that I thought was a spider dangling by my hat bill.....so I grabbed my hat
and swatted it down.....it was a HONEY BEE!.....I am thinking wow this is
so strange....so i picks her up and takes her outside (tactfully avoiding the
stinger that was being deployed in a futile attempt to snag me)  I set
her down and she disappears....I go back to the garage and then much
to my amazement I am visited by 5 -6 more honey bees.  They were detecting
the sugar fumes and there is NOTHING blooming for them to eat and the warm day
had them active.  It was way strange.  ???

Does it have a flattish surface anywhere?
#1 use it to cook foil wrapped potatoes!!!
#2 Use it to heat up igneous rocks that you can cautiously apply/utilize  for heat therapy

DON'T go all political with this please

Went on vacation and thought maybe I'd have a beer....then Nope...
aint gonna support this....
Realized I am glad that I do not have to live under this authority.
Be glad if you do not either!  Stuff at the state run liquor store

Man I just LOVE red ripe jalapeno~  They get this yum yum flavor kinda sweet/hot...
I scored a LOT of the red ones out of this tote at a Utah farmers roadside stand.
I am not so up to speed on the Ghost Pepper or the Moruga Scorpion....They are just
not available unless I grow my own. I can tolerate Habanero sauce or having them
with something.

Classifieds / Recruiting in house Electronic Technicians
« on: September 02, 2013, 09:49:35 AM »
I want to get the word out. The Main Post Office in Casper  WY has opened their inhouse recruting method for an Electronic Technician PS 10 level.  If you are currently in that slot,
you may transfer here if you desire.    if you could help me spread the word.
Since the postal services method of inhouse recruitment leaves some things to be desired for sure.

Thought there may be some office that was undergoing closure or excessing and their people could
come here.  We are short handed and have been for some time and there are 2 slots available.

View these jobs on e-reassign.

Help spread the word....if you can.

You MUST be currently FTR  in house (USPS) employed in this Craft.

Thanks in advance,
