Zymurgy / Zymurgy Best Beers Survey (and free swag)
« on: February 17, 2018, 01:28:48 PM »
Zymurgy's 16th annual Best Beers in America survey is now live. AHA members can log in and vote here:

http://HomebrewersAssociation.org/zym-best-beers

You can name—in no particular order—as few as 1 or as many as 5 commercially brewed beers that you think deserve recognition. We'll obtain or develop clone recipes for those that readers particularly enjoy. Voting ends March 20, and all who cast votes are entered to win free AHA merch!

Thanks for all you do to make Zymurgy a valuable resource for homebrewers!

Zymurgy / Go, Go Gadget Issue!
« on: September 21, 2016, 06:45:10 PM »
Hey, want to be in the January/February issue of Zymurgy? Send us your wackiest, craziest, most innovative (and maybe even useful?) homebrew gadgets. If you've built a cool brew toy, converted an everyday item to a beerworthy piece of equipment, or found a clever way to accomplish a brew day task, we want to hear about it.

Submission deadline is October 14:

For ideas and inspiration, check out previous Jan/Feb issues of the magazine in ye olde digital archive: http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/magazine/ezymurgy/.

Zymurgy / Jul/Aug 2016: Fat Head's Head Hunter IPA clone
« on: June 29, 2016, 10:25:52 PM »
In response to a reader inquiry, I need to clarify a couple of things about the Head Hunter recipe that appears on page 36 in the Jul/Aug 2016 issue of Zymurgy:

1. There should be 11 oz. of flaked wheat in the ingredient list. These are referenced in the narrative but don't appear in the ingredients. They were there in the original and must have disappeared when I was switching between extract and all-grain formulations during editing. My mistake!

2. If you can't or don't want to use hop extract for the 90-minute bittering charge, just target about 35–40 IBUs at 90 minutes using the hops of your choice. High alpha is preferred because it'll reduce vegetation in the kettle.

Zymurgy / May/June print edition shipping issues
« on: May 04, 2016, 02:59:45 PM »
More AHA members than usual have contacted us to say that their paper copies of the May/June 2016 issue were damaged or destroyed en route from the printer to reader mailboxes. It might just be a fluke, but if there's something systemic going on, I'd like to try figuring out what it is.

Please answer the easy peasy poll to help us get some data. Thanks!

Zymurgy / "From the Glass" correction: Zymurgy May/June 2016
« on: April 27, 2016, 02:06:33 PM »
In "From the Glass" on page 9, the text says that "Homebrew Con 2016 features...8 homebrew club booths at Club Night."

It should read "Homebrew Con 2016 features...84 homebrew club booths at Club Night."

Club Night is going to be YUGE. Eight clubs would have been a touch underwhelming.

The correction has been pushed to the digital edition and should appear there within the next 24 to 48 hours. We apologize for the fault in the printed version. Those responsible have been sacked.  ;D

Cheers,
Dave
