Anybody have a recipe clone for this wonderful beer?

Kegging and Bottling / Rotating Kegs out of the serving line.
« on: October 18, 2010, 10:48:24 PM »
At the moment, I only have one keg that I serve at a time.  I have a number of different styles lined up ready to serve.

Is there a problem with taking a keg that is half finished out of the kegerator and swap with another for a bit?  My intent would be to return the original to the kegerator in the future.  I would like to mix em up a bit.

Maybe it is taking me too long to finish a keg, but I would like to swap them at times.

And yes, I am working at increasing my serving capacity.   :)

Yeast and Fermentation / Fermenting cooler than specified
« on: April 20, 2010, 08:32:15 PM »
I am fermenting a beer with Safale 05.  I used a starter and placed the carboy in a refrigerator, fired up my temp control device and let it go.  Within a couple of days I had minor blow off.

Now, a week later I notice the temps in the frig are about 61F.  I had set the unit to begin cooling so I would ferment on the cool side of the yeast specs around 68F.

The ambient temp in the garage where the frig is sitting is only about 61F.

The yeast is chugging along very well.

I do though have a question.  Can I simply expect the beer to take longer to finish, but will not have any off flavors as a result of cool fermentation?  I have always wanted to be on the cool rather than the warm side of my ferments, but is this too cool?

Equipment and Software / Needed - Brass Head for a March 809HS 1/25 Pump
« on: January 06, 2010, 02:04:56 PM »
I broke the plastic pump head off of my March pump at the threads.  I would like to pick up a Brass replacement.  Anybody know of a good place to pick one up reasonably?  If by chance you have a part number for one, I could then maybe find one on e-bay.

I brewed an eight gallon batch of a Pale Ale.  I split the batch into four gallons each to a five gallon carboy.  I pitched the Nottingham to one and the 05 to the other.  Of course I was going to keep track of the two and compare results.

I lost the paperwork telling me which was which.

I tend to use these two yeasts quite a bit and do actually sub them out as needed.  I also like to save my yeast and repitch.

Now, what would happen if I saved the slurry from both batches and mixed them after washing?  You folks see any real negative to using a Not5 mystery yeast in any bath calling for a Nottingham or Safale 05?

Equipment and Software / Coleman Extreme 70qt Silver
« on: November 20, 2009, 03:38:39 PM »

My local big box is advertising a Coleman Extreme 70qt Silver cooler for $44.99.  I currently use the same one in blue.  Would there be a difference other than color?

Pimp My System / Rep's System - Single tier
« on: November 19, 2009, 12:23:19 PM »
Here is a picture of my new system.  I converted from a gravity fed wooden structure using propane to this single tier system powered by natural gas.  In mid conversion I bought a country home and will need to convert again.  I think I will build an electric system and probably convert this one to propane.

My new place will have a garage to be converted to a brew shed.
