Hi Brewing Rover. Yes, Beer nut is ok if I have another reason to go to the big city, I buy from them.
It's cheaper, and easier to online order from Northern, or Midwest. I do have trouble with yeast shipped in the summer.  You seem to know the area. There are no brew stores close to me here in Duchesne.
Where do you call home?

I'm in Rural northeastern Utah.   120 miles east of Salt Lake City, on US 40.      What brings you to Utah?     I'm a native born, Utahn.

All the replies are much apprecieated!   I am learning lots here, already.   I sure like the Star-San, but the foam doesn't drain too good from a carboy. I am told this is no problem. Supposedly there's a new one that doean't foam as much. I wonder if it lasts as long?  I have got some PH test strips on order now.

Again, Thanks for sharing knowledge!

Hi all!
Joined today. Live in Utah. Heavy earthmover equipment repair shop foreman. 56,  I own two motorcycles that is my "nerve medicine" in good weather. ;)
Only been brewing since 04. Am kegging.   Just did my first all grain 10 days ago. It's in a carboy ageing now. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
I have a 10 gallon converted cooler mash tun. 12 gallon copper brew kettle. (old candy kettle) That I heat with natural gas in my unattached shop/garage.
I have done maybe 40 batches of extract, partial mash brews. Decided it's time to learn more about the craft. I have several carboys of wine, ageing now too. Some apple that is 5 weeks old now, in secondary.  Strawberry in primary as of this morning. And same blackberries in my deep freeze to get going soon.  A new conical fermenter is in route from supplier. Can't wait to get that going. Hope to learn to harvest yeast and not have to rack to secondary. I am here to learn. And maybe contribute a little as we go along.
 My friends call me Chuck.

Hi all!    I'm new here.  Looks like a great place to learn something!
I'd like to ask if there is a way to tell if a mixed batch of sanitizer is still good?    Iodophor seems to loose it's color after a week or so. I am told that when the color goes, don't trust it.    I have a 16"x22' x 6" tall plactic tub with lid,( about 2 1/2 gallon) that I keep my racking canes, stoppers, hydrometer, etc. in. and mix a batch of Star San to sanitize my fermenter, carboy, kegs, then dump it in the plastic tub and not wanting to waste it, put the lid on, for next weeks brew day. What are your thoughts on this?
Any tips for sanitizers in general? Too bad a little steam boiler isn't practical for home crafters to use for cleaning/sanitizing.....
