     I'd wager that in 90% of competitions, the home club takes home a significant percentage of the awards.  It's natural to support your own comp.   A large number of my club members only enter ours.   Some are excellent brewers who have no interest in shipping entries to other cities/states.

By far the best coffee stout I ever made was using Cafe Du Monde's coffee with chickory.   I used a rye stout base and cold steeped the coffee.  Judges and friends loved that beer.

I bring mash and sparge water from the house in buckets (145 degrees so less time in the garage waiting for it to heat up) and I keep the hose for chilling inside until the last second.  Irish coffee helps as well.

All good advice. I wouldn't go to the trouble of building a cradle with casters, though.  Go to your local discount tool or home improvement store and pick up a furniture dolly.  They run under $15 and work perfectly.   Position the empty barrel on it and screw/nail a couple of 2x4 s to keep it from rolling.  Less than a 5 minute project.

4. Weyermann's Munich
I've also began using Rahr pils for APA's and Ipa's.   I stick with the Weyermann's for German styles.

This is the year guys! This is the year I'm finally going to medal at NHC with that stupid lambic of mine.

Dang thing advances to the Finals each year I enter it, makes it to mini-BOS, and then falls on it's face. This is the year that will change!  ;D

I put 3 into mini bos last hardware.      This is our year!!

I use my ph meter a lot in mead making..takes apx 2 minutes to like a charm.  Had it a issues... no parts to replace.

  If you have the space go with the 20#.  I f you need it to be mobile go with the 5#.  I have a 20# hooked up to the keg fridge and use the 5# for events and bottling.

I did the exact same thing at Lowe's.  No one said a word when I started removing the shelves from the freezer..  Some people looked at me like I was bringing a bomb into the store and gave me a wide berth.
