I bought casters for my brew stand from them. They have warhouses everywhere, so orders ship pretty quick.  They are like the McMaster-Carr of storage stuff. And their catalogs are like a small telephone book.

Hops Direct for large bulk (1lb.), Freshops for smaller amounts and the LHBS in a pinch. I have a freezer full o' hops right now, so no needs for quite awhile.  But based on what ya'll have posted, I'll check out YVH and HH next time the need arises.

I knew you were good for something!  Now to find some flavorfull decaf beans....

So, getting back to this...

My wife can only drink decaf and she lamented the flavors of all she tried vs. the real deal. Then about a year ago we spent a day in Athens, GA and had dinner at Five And Ten (excellent choice, BTW) and she was blown away by the decaf coffee they served. The waiter told us it was from Counter Culture Coffee in Durham, NC. It is their Slow Motion selection. We came home and immediately signed up to have it automatically delivered every month. I plan to get an extra bag soon to use in a coffee porter.

UPS.  Only have a problem once out of 30 shipments. FedEx is much more expensive.

I say whip it.
Whip it good.
For a minute or until you get it foamy.
I used to use a wine degasser and a drill to whip it. Whip it good.
Now, I use an aeration stone.

Just curious: all of my freinds up in Chicago have this perception that Buck & Smoltz (mostly Buck) is favoring the Indians in their game calling/praise, etc. I'm not sure I buy into it. Are Indians fans complaining the other way - that they're favoring the Cubs?

The Chicken City Ale Raisers, will be hosting Learn To Homebrew Day on November 5th! The event begins at 12:00 noon at Left Nut Brewing in Gainesville, GA. A link to their website and directions is below. Anyone can attend and if you know of others who would like to attend, bring them along! You can also tour LNB and drink their beer! $15 per person gets you a guided tour of the LNB facility, an LNB souvenir glass and 36oz of beer samples.

Wait a few years.  I'm part of that tail end of baby-boomers, born in 1958-1960. When I retire in a few more years, I'll have a lot more time for brewing and, if I'm lucky, still have a enough years and money to do it. I know I can't be the only one. As an anecdotal side note, our club has seen a real uptick in the number of younger (under 35) members just this year. Less grey hair at meetings than there used to be, which we like!

Sounds really tasty.  I have some 6-row that I'll be picking up at our next club meeting tomorrow night and I already have some speckled white grits from a local granary. I prefer doing a cereal mash with their grits than using flaked. More work, but it makes a real flavor difference, IMO. Just need to get the C malts and rye. I think I'm going to try this very soon.  Thanks for sharing!
