Yeah, it's been a bit rough. And I think we started the process somewhere around Oct. 2010.

Room? Yes. But not enough power and nowhere to set up propane. I need to go electric... And 110v at that. I'm going to have to run 2 elements off 2 separate circuits.

So for those of you who remember me, the divorce finally went through last month, I found a buyer for the house, and should be moving into a new apartment by the end of the month. Yay me!

I have some stuff I need to get rid of, brewing and otherwise. I put up a classified here and I will probably post on another forum as well.

Just dropping in to say hi... I haven't been on in a while and I wanted to see who was still around.

Hi all,

Haven't been on the site for a while, but the time has FINALLY come for me to move. I have 2 uncut 1/2bbl kegs (also have one cut one I may get rid of), 2 corny kegs, 2 5g glass carboys, an open head SS drum (actually about a 1/2 drum in size, not sure how big exactly) and probably some other stuff to get rid of as I downsize operations to apartment size.

I also have a beer fridge that has been drilled for a cO2 line and 2 taps, and a 2 bay SS commercial sink with drainboard if those don't go to the new buyers. If anyone definitely wants those, let me know ASAP.

Check out the steam generator LP turbine (that 12' tall fan) in this commercial.

Now THAT"S a beer engine. 

But the term "beer" is being used pretty loosely in this commercial.   ::)

I've associated turbines with Bud ever since I started flying out of Newark.

I have grown Maris Otter in this manner. Believe it or not, I first thought to try it after I noticed a number of young, barley-like plants sprouting out of the spent grain pile in my yard. Yes, this is malt that went through the mash, and yes, it turned out to be barley.

I have had the argument on whether it was or wasn't in the past, and I'm not looking to have it again. Just reporting my observations. Not all the seed gets killed, and apparently, some are just damn near impossible to kill. Is it highly successful? Well, no. Out of maybe 60 lbs of spent grain, a few seeds sprouted. Out of maybe a pound of malt, a few seeds might sprout.

But barley, like Van Damme, appears to be hard to kill. YMMV and all that.

All done. Have some pictures I'll have to upload later. I made two major mistakes which probably ruined it. I added the cornmeal and the meat to the broth at the same time, and I forgot to grease the molds. I'll get pictures posted up at some point, and let you know how it all turned out once I cook a slice up.

All in all, not that much work. I would definitely consider doing a big batch in the future.

The only time I ever saw my grandmother pour off fat, it was into a jar to save for something else.

No, I think that was another PA dutch thread that first got scrapple-jacked, then kraut-jacked. I was asking around in my family for my grandma's recipe at the time. All I got was "I know she used pork ribs instead of hocks and feet."

So I figured I'd try a mix and see where that got me. And I don't know about the fat. I'd imagine a good portion gets left in to bind with the cornmeal.

So I got my pork ribs, got some hocks, got white and yellow corn meal. Prepared to make me some scrapple. Who has tips for me?

My understanding is you boil, remove meat and bone from the stock, pick the meat, puree, and return it to the stock. Boil with cornmeal and spices, cool, and pack in cake pan. Refrigerate or freeze.

Am I missing anything?
