Hi Matt!

Do we have any dates or number of openings for 2017? I would like to throw my hat into the ring! I've been an avid HomeBrewer for almost 30 years (a few pro awards in the old days). Working on my BJCP even though I have judged dozens of comps. In my 4th HomeBrew Club (IEB, Barley Bandits, M Falcons, Malt Kinocti Mashers - all CA) and soon to join DOZE. Very interested in the helping pass legislation allowing homebrew to be shared in authorized establishments (brewpubs, microbreweries, etc.) for club meetings - in ALL states.

And, thanks for the AHA Rally at Heretic a few weeks ago. That was a hoot!

The BrewGuru App is great for a 1.0 app. I've found an interesting bug, but haven't found a place to report it, so hopefully, the devs read this forum!

I am a regular at Heretic BC in Fairfield, CA. The Brew Guru app notifies me 5 minutes after I LEAVE Heretic that "You are near Heretic Brewing Company" and that there are AHA discounts there. Luckily, they all know me and I get my AHA discount anyway, but it's funny that it does not recognize that I am actually AT the brewery while I am there. I don't think it is the GPS on my iPhone because it is accurate in all the other apps.

Keep working on it! Great start!

Homebrew Competitions / Competition Categories?
« on: March 10, 2010, 06:33:47 AM »
Cheers Gang!

One of my favorite homebrews is a VERY strong ale (10%+) made exclusively of two-row with just a hint of fresh raspberries. (Thank you defunct brewery Great Bear, Wasilla, Alaska!) I don't know if I should enter this as a fruit beer, a barley wine, or experimental. It certainly wouldn't do well in the barley wine category because of the fruit and it may be too high in alcohol (is there such a thing!) to satisfy the judges in the fruit category.

Is it legal and/or ethical to enter the same beer in multiple categories at the same competition?
