General Homebrew Discussion / Re: Homebrew Con 2019
« on: March 18, 2019, 02:53:46 PM »
Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from LAX to Providence, which makes taking the redeye even more painful, but I'm doing it anyway.

It's also super easy getting from Boston to Providence if you fly into Logan. It's about an hour drive if you're not fighting rush hour and an even easier train ride. AND that train line goes right through Canton (Trillium)! I compare it to flying into Denver and having to get to Boulder. See ya all there!

Hey everyone!

If your club wants a chance to brew a beer with Melvin, MoreBeer and the Brewing Network, you must be registered with the American Homebrewers Association.

Club registration with the AHA is free and takes just a few minutes. You can do the process here: https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/community/clubs/club-updates-form/

Don't forget, the competition entry deadline is January 31st! You can find all the competition details here on MelvinBrewing.com.

Looks like the two I would recommend have been mentioned...

"Modern Homebrew Recipes" by Gordon Strong in many ways feels like Brewing Classic Styles. "Experimental Brewing" by Randy Mosher is one of my personal favorites because it has a good mix of history and recipes.

Can't go wrong with either!

AHA Messages, Forum Rules & FAQs / Discontinuing the AHA Homebrewopedia
« on: November 16, 2018, 11:29:54 PM »
Greetings AHA Forum-

This is Duncan, the web editor for the AHA. I wanted to let you all know that as of November 20th, 2018, the AHA's Homebrewopedia will be discontinued. We are archiving all the information and will be working on integrating it into HomebrewersAssociation.org in 2019.

We know this was a resource some people were still using, particularly to share recipes. We hope you'll continue this exchange of recipes and information right here on the AHA Forum in the Recipes section!

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to shoot me an email and I will be in touch ASAP! duncan@brewersassociation.org

Cheers,
Duncan

Homebrew Clubs / Re: When should I receive a new AHA Membership card
« on: June 25, 2018, 07:39:02 PM »
We send out new member cards every week, so you should have definitely received your card by now.

You can reach out to our Member Services department at info@brewersassociation.org or 888-822-6273.  The Member Services staff are in the office M-F 8 am - 5 pm MT.

If you haven't done so already, download and login to the Brew Guru app to access your digital member card.

The beer guru app is where it’s at in all honesty. It has your name, when your membership expires. Shows you breweries and homebrew shops, deals, recipes, etc.

When I travel I just show my card/ phone to breweries that offer discounts and bam. Got the hook up.

We definitely recommend members download the Brew Guru app. If you're a new member, the digital membership card on Brew Guru allows you to start using your AHA Member Deals while you wait for a physical card to arrive in the mail. It's also a great back up for members new and old for those times you forgot/lost your card!

Links to iOS and Android apps are on this page: https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/brew-guru/

General Homebrew Discussion / Re: Do you belong to a homebrew club?
« on: April 12, 2018, 03:34:05 PM »
At least option 2 (online community) is not mutually exclusive with all other options.
May I suggest you take it off the list, and if you wish to know, ask it as a separate question.

In my case Option 1 would be the answer but Option 2 represents me equally well.

Cheers,

Great feedback, thanks. Made the change!

General Homebrew Discussion / Do you belong to a homebrew club?
« on: April 12, 2018, 02:48:04 PM »
Hey AHA Forum-

We're trying to get a sense of AHA members' and forum users' connection to homebrew clubs. Take the poll above and choose an option that best describes your relationship to homebrew clubs!

Feel free to leave comments in this thread to elaborate on your experience and relationship with clubs. ex: Why are you a member (or not)?

If you'd like to take the poll to the next level, let us know which club you are a member of in this form.

Cheers!
Duncan

Hey guys-

Looks like the redirect was acting funky. It's working now! https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/ma18

And here's a direct link to Steve's article: https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/how-to-brew/nostalgia-exploring-19th-century-british-ales/

Zymurgy / Re: Available for download or just for online reading?
« on: February 16, 2018, 03:53:45 PM »
Hey MYR-

Welcome to the AHA Forum!

Zymurgy magazine is digitally available on desktop through eZymurgy or on a smartphone throught he Zymurgy mobile app.

The Zymurgy mobile app allows you to download issues and access them offline. That is unfortunately not currently a feature for desktop.

If you have any other specific questions on digital Zymurgy, feel free to reach out to us directly: info@brewersassociation.org

Cheers!

Pimp My System / Have you built a DIY counter pressure filler?
« on: January 29, 2018, 08:50:55 PM »
I'm in search of someone who has built their own counter pressure bottle filler, and had good results when using it! We're hoping to work with this person on a DIY how-to post on HomebrewersAssociation.org.

Reply here or email me at duncan@brewersassociation.org

Cheers!
