Pimp My System / So close I can smell it
« on: February 21, 2017, 05:42:59 PM »
Actually,  I did smell when I turned out on avert worrying in the wet switches. Turns out when you wire a 24v component to 120v, it let's the smoke out. Oops!  ::)
All the low voltage is now done. The next few nights I finish up the high voltage and the control panel will be done with the exception some diamond plate and the switch lables. I'm still not sure if the property management is going to let me put a 50amp 220v circuit or not. For now,  I'm wiring it for 120v. If they do decide to let me, it will be simple to swap the panel over to 220v.

I think if it were myself, is wire a relay, SSR or hard,
to the "alarm" side of the PID and let that take care of the pump.

I've been using a rectangular tun since I began brewing. I'm just now thinking of aging RIMS to the rectangular set up.

I haven't thought about the channeling issue. I'll have to give that some thought.

Is bribing to look like a brewery. Notice the saw... it's not"the" saw. That one was left in Idaho. But it's better than boring. I don't think my Jolly Rancher OPACITY would have turned out without it.

I'm thinking I might like to set my electric brewery up as a RIMS system. I'd like to be able to use my 58qt rectangular mash tun (black and red for optimal efficiency). Is there and reason I couldn't make a copper manifold that would sit near the bottom of the tun to to circulate hot water through? I've not seen any builds or threads on this, but in my mind it stands to reason that it would work.

Kegging and Bottling / Re: New to kegging
« on: February 18, 2017, 06:28:08 AM »
I would ideally like to have two kegs, because two beers are always better than one

You know what's even better than having two beers on tap? Having three beers on tap!! Welcome to the club and the forum. You're going to love kegging!!

Yeah, they sure do pick up quick. Sofie loves anything that involves cooking. She's 9 now. It was cute to see the intensity on her face while filling the bottles. She did a great job. got the fill level spot on and hardly spilled a drop. Every time she got the perfect fill she had to show her mom. She had a million questions and she kept saying she was sorry for asking so much. LOL I told her she can help next brew day.
We've let her have little sips of our beer, wine, etc... and she's never liked any of it. She wanted to tste the IPA we were bottling, and wouldn't you know it, she loved it!!! That's my girl!!  8)

Got my five gallons of IPA bottled tonight. I had some help. My little girlie did an awesome job!! She was bummed when it was done. Kind of makes kegging a little less appealing.

Tonight I got my two SSR's, a two pole two throw relay, and the wiring terminals mounted. Also the 24v transformer. And did someone say "diamond plate"?
I got one side done. Still have to do the other along with a trim piece on the bottom of the front and back.

It's actually a burner box for a radiant garage heater. I sold it to a customer, and it was bad out of the box. I warrantied it for him and got him a new burner. My rep did not require us to send it back, so it was headed to the dumpster. It started out as this. I was doing some warranty claim processing today and got inspired.

It's gonna look bad  ass when it's all done.

I want happy with my control panel. Function was great but aesthetically a disaster. I think this looks much better. There will be diamond plate on top and on each side. I'm also going to have vinyl lettering cut to tag each control and a cool design along with my brewery name and slogan.

"It ain't ideal, but it doesn't suck. "

I still need to come up with a logo.

If you're still looking for fittings, let me know what you need. I sell this stuff when I'm not brewing. AKA my job.

I'll pass on some words a wise old hippie brewer once shared with me that made my brewing go from stress filled to stress free.
"It ain't ideal but it doesn't suck." Any guess who that hippie was?  ;)
