Brown thermapen for $79 + $6 shipping.

Not a huge deal but the best price I've seen them at.  Guess the brown ones aren't that popular.
Looks like the Brown discount is over, I looked at it a few days ago, even had one sitting in my cart for $79, but forgot to pull the trigger that day. Saw this thread so I went back to the site, the brown one was still in my cart but the price had risen back to $89, same as all the others. Bummer, missed it. Well, you snooze you lose on these deals, it seems. Just thought I'd pass it on.

Equipment and Software / Re: Fridge breaking/broken

I work on appliances for a living, and I'd suggest if you plan on putting anything into the fridge that is worth something to you, to replace that fan ASAP. You didn't mention if you had planned on doing that or have done it, but it is an inexpensive repair, I do it all the time, and if it failed once, it will again, most likely sooner than later. You can easily find the part online, though the model number doesn't look quite right, Kenmore units usually have 3 numbers, a dot, then a bunch more numbers. The 3 numbers before the dot indicate who made it for them (Whirlpool, Amana, etc), and you'll need them to look up the correct part number for the fan.

Once you get it, search for an evap fan motor. Not expensive, easy to replace, and it will keep your product at the right temp. One important thing to look at once the cover is off and the fridge is running is the frost pattern on the evap. It should cover the whole evap top to bottom evenly. It's easiest to see if you start with a warm freezer, and with the cover off and the fan not blowing, watch as the frost starts forming on the evaporator, it should cover it completely within 3-5 minutes or so, top to bottom. If not, there may be a sealed system issue such as low refrigerant due to a leak. Best of luck!

Many compressors today have a timer built into them, to prevent short cycling, often 5 minutes or more before it will allow the compressor to start again. As others have said, test it with the external control removed to check the baseline operation, this will help determine where your problem is. What brand/model of fridge is it?

Yep, I think it was the Brew Magic. I contacted them, and they quoted me a price that was pretty much at what I remember. Quite a system, but I have been googling comparisons between the 3-4 main automated systems, and each has their pros and cons. One thing I read about was one had a tippy kettle, which some people liked. I have a heckuva lot more research to do, I know that for sure. Thanks everyone for your replies, I am going to start doing searches here for ideas. Great resource, glad I became a member!

Checked out, I think Brew Magic might be it, I'll see if they are the one, and I'll hanging around in case anyone comes up with other ideas of systems that are out there. Thanks for the replies!

I checked out their site, it looks a little more like what I remember. It was fairly high tech, I wish I could find the info that I got when I was looking the system over. I filled out a info request on their site, I will talk with them and see if it is what I remember. Does anyone know of any other mfg's who make a similiar system?

I hit their site, but can't see any pics as I don't have flash installed on my computer. The one I saw as in a room with other companies selling their products, it was along a wall, and looked pretty impressive. From what I remember, it was an all in one system, pumps, etc. I even think I got a brochure from them, they were pretty proud of their system. Looked quite high tech, mulltiple burners, etc. I think it was around 6' long. Thanks for the reply, I will try looking into it further, that name rings a bell, but I think they were in the other corner. I'll keep digging.

A pic finally loaded up, nope, that wasn't it, they look to be a multi kettle verticle system, this one was more horizontal. Very cool, very high tech, but was at least $6000.

I was at the convention last year in MN, and saw an automated brewing system there that was about $6000 or so if I remember correctly. I am trying to figure out what the name is the company and unit is, it was pretty neat. Does anyone have an idea as to what it was called and who makes it? Any thoughts is appreciated. Thanks!

Classifieds / Re: 2 Pre-Conference baseball game tickets for sale

Hello, would you happen to have the tickets for the conferences available as well? I am looking for one, have posted a post under Events, but was perusing the forums, and came across this post. Thanks!

Hello - I have am trying to find anyone with an extra ticket to the Conferences this weekend. I just purchased my 1st system last week at my local brewing shop, and found out last weekend while reading all sorts of homebrewing forums that there is the national homebrewing conference basically right in my back yard! Whoda thought? :)

Of course, I have been thinking about getting into this hobby for a while, and had no idea that the week after I buy my setup, probably the best educational opportunity one could ask for is happening so close to home. I presume that it moves around every year, so this will most likely be my one shot at going (can talk the better half into letting me go to this since there is no airfare, hotels, etc, but next year, there would be...)

If anyone has a spare ticket, I am (ideally) looking for one that is conferences without the banquet, as I need to be home in the evenings, but just going to meet all the great people, and the education, would be priceless. Let me know if anyone can help me.

Thanks much!
