My calendar says that November 6 is a Sunday. Is this happening on Saturday the 5th or Sunday the 6th?

Kegging and Bottling / Kegging sanitizing gas line
« on: April 29, 2011, 04:32:42 PM »
I have just started kegging.  In fact, I filled my first keg last Saturday, and I think it is about carbed and ready to go just now.

I just realized that I never sanitized my gas line.

I took apart and sanitized all the keg pieces and both the ball locks.  I forced the sanitizer through the beer line and out the tap on my keggerator.

But, I didn't run sanitizer through the gas line.  It was brand new.  My guess is that it is ok, but I don't know.

For you experienced keggers out there ... do you sanitize your gas line?  Is it necessary?  Am I in trouble for not having done it?

Thanks.

General Homebrew Discussion / Shipping Beer
« on: November 29, 2010, 10:55:45 AM »
I know that the USPS will not ship beer.  I am pretty sure FedEx and UPS only ship beer if you are a company that specifically signs a contract with them.  As far as I know, the only way to ship home brew is to lie about what is being shipped.

Does anyone out there have a way to legally get your beer shipped without breaking the law?  Maybe some other less known shipping company?

Hi esheppy!  You might want to put your location in your sig in case there are brewers near you.
Ok.

EDIT:  Hmmm... the pictures are not showing up.  Not sure what I did wrong.

It doesn't look like you did anything wrong.  Maybe blogspot doesn't allow "hotlinking"

See above. He needs to remove the '-h' from his URL. They have a super-secret "no hotlinking" flag.  ;)

Thanks, guys.  So, now you can actually look at the pictures:

Hi there.  I'm a new member of AHA.  I signed up at GABF.  I'm so new that I have not gotten my card, yet  ;)

Sort of just wanted to say "Howdy" and it looks like this is the thread in which to do it.

I've been brewing for about a year and 9 months when my sister got me a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas.  Been hooked ever since.

I will do my 55th batch this weekend ... it will be my 5th all-grain batch.  Although I rarely use Mr. Beer ingredients, I still use the Mr. Beer fermenters, so those are all small batches.  I need to upgrade sometime to something bigger.  I just have not gotten around to it.

Anyway ... as I said, I just wanted to introduce myself a little bit.  Not sure how active I'll be on the forum.  I guess we'll see.

Cheers!

Is this a great organization or what!   :D
So far, so good.  She got me my hat, but I don't have my membership card, yet.  I am hoping to get it in the mail tonight so I can use the pub discount tomorrow.

If not, I guess I'll have to wait until next weekend.   ;D

I don't think it is blogspot disallowing ... I've used pictures from them on other forums.

That is what's happening. Your URLs and formatting are correct, but they won't serve a hotlink.

It is something specific about those images.  Here is another one from my blog:

Sorry .. didn't mean to hijack the thread.  I'll shut up now.

Format is fine. Blogspot might disallow hotlinking.

My kid is in his mid 30s and is a foot taller than me....he wouldn't fit!

Mine is 20 and she wouldn't either. :D
Mine are 8 and 5 ... and they won't fit in my kettle (although they would fit in the kettle that started off this thread)

I do have quite a few pictures like this:

and some of them actually helping like this:

I'm betting Kate Porter will know...email her at

Kathryn Porter <kathryn@brewersassociation.org>
Thanks, Denny.

I emailed her and she sent me a new hat.  Apparently they had two left, so I got lucky.  I still don't know where to buy one, but now I guess I don't need to buy one.

Does anyone know where I can purchase one of the GABF hats that they were giving away for signing up to join the AHA?

Mine got stolen Saturday night.   >:(
