Classifieds / Re: selling vintage beer can collection

I would sell them one by one on ebay. Some of those cans are probably worth a lot.

I wish I could say the same about my 70's comic book collection.

Going Pro / Re: Steam vs Electric vs Gas?
« on: November 11, 2011, 11:10:55 AM »
In other parts of the country, natural gas might be the way to go.  Some people on car forums have said that electricity is so high  in the NYC area, that electric cars make no sense on a kilowatt per mile basis, let alone the depreciation to buy one.

Which is crazy since there's a nuclear power plant 38 miles north of NYC.

-1. Northern Exposure is the best show ever.

Totally!

My girlfriend and I have just got the entire run on DVD and she loves it. She somehow never watched tv the first 40 years of her life, but she is hooked on NE now. It is fascinating to me all the cultural things she is unaware of by never watching tv. I will say something like "It was just like that episode of Gilligan's Island/Star Trek/The Brady Bunch etc." and she has no idea what I'm talking about.

That would be very cool, but I'm not holding my breath.

I honestly don't care one way or the other. I don't think someone's behavior on an internet forum will change no matter what name they use to post. Good people are good people and jerks are jerks, no matter what name they use.

aka dog food for people that don't love their pets

I don't think it's even good enough for a dog.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying you shouldn't buy fancy equipment (lord knows I have more then I need).  What I am saying is that the reason should be because it adds to your enjoyment of the hobby, not because you think you need it in order to make good beer.

It's like trying anything new. There is no way you are going to be great at it the first time you do it.

I think he could be great someday, but he's got a ways to go.

I mean, they barely beat Miami.

I don't get why everyone is so worked up about Tebow.

I spent a lot of my childhood listening to polka. My dad must have had a thousand polka tapes. He spent a lot of time cruising in the motor home blasting the polka. He was also in a polka band for a while. After he died, my three brothers and I all inherited an accordion.

As an audio professional for over 45 years, I sometimes cringe at some of the things in the high end consumer audio world.  Some of it is great and well thought out.  But a lot of it is just snake oil.

A wealthy friend of mine has a six-figure sound system that he mostly uses to listen to rare old vinyl. It's very cool and it does sound good, but I personally can't hear a reason for it to cost so much. He even has a gizmo to uh, "filter" the electricity that powers it.
