Update on this. Do not let your fermenting beer get to 70/80 degrees if it should be at 65 or so. This batch has a sort of chemical/burnt rubber aftertaste. A sad waste of good Cascade hops. Not super awful but it is now in my secret stash for emergencies only. Maybe a few weeks will help it.

My girlfriend got me a Washburn B-9 banjo a few years ago for xmas. It was about $200-$250. I have a long way to go before Earl Scruggs gets worried, but this thing seems fine for a beginner and it doesn't take long to sound like an ok player. It's easier if you already know the guitar, but it's not too tough to pick up. There are plenty of sites on how to play too.

My only warning is that even without using fingerpicks, a banjo is REALLY LOUD.

What is the preferred temp to ferment US-05 and S-04? I haven't used dried yeast in a long time.

When I first started brewing I used to carb in growlers. It can be done but it is hit or miss. Had usually one bomb every few batches. But some batches more. Eventually I stopped because of it. If you do it, put them in some kind of bin so you dont have a growler full of beer everywhere.
