would you be interested in adding "conversion efficiency" (http://braukaiser.com/wiki/index.php?title=Understanding_Efficiency#Conversion_efficiency).

This is one of the calculations that I do most often when I brew since I'm interested in getting to 100%.

Kai

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll add this to my to do list.

Best wishes to Ken.

Great guy, great mead maker, great teacher.

We learned a lot from him here in St. Paul, MN.

Denny-

I've tested it on my iPad, which is a 1st gen running iOS 5, and it works just fine.

Not sure what to say.

Denny-

It works on my iPhone.

I'll have to try it on my iPad later. I don't have it with me right now.

It won't spit out a number unless you have all the input fields (Grain Temp, Grain Weight, Water Ratio, and Target Temp) populated.

gmac-

As Denny mentions, it does run on the iPad as an iPhone app, but really was only designed for portrait mode, so won't behave all that well in landscape.

And yes, after swatting bug and cleaning up typos, the next step will be to make it a universal app to take full advantage of the iPad screen size and functionality.

redbeerman-

Yes, just a calculator and reference app.

The goal is to have the next major release (a few months out at least) do recipe formulation, but probably only on the iPad.

Thanks for picking that one up and the typos I missed.

I appreciate the feedback.

There will be an update in a few weeks. The review process takes some time.

I've written a new brewing app called BrewBot.

Along with hop and yeast data/characteristics, it features 16 unique calculators.

Check it out here: http://itunes.com/apps/brewbot

I have a limited number of free download codes for anyone interested in testing & providing feedback.

Email brewbot@sphbc.org to request a code and tell me why you'd be a good candidate for testing.

Homebrew Clubs / Re: BN Army wins club of the year.

There were no boos that I heard.

I did not applaud.

Why?

I don't think a national virtual club is the same animal as any other regional club. I don't think it's a level playing field when that virtual club can flood multiple regions.

Less than 10% of the entries remain open for the nation's largest non-Texas homebrew competition.

Only a few days are left to get your entry in for the 2012 Upper Mississippi Mash-Out.

We have great prizes and fast feedback. Your results will be in the mail the day after the contest wraps up. Results are posted live by Twitter and Facebook.

General Homebrew Discussion / UMMO '12 Update: Entries Rapidly Filling Up
« on: January 05, 2012, 10:05:38 AM »
The Upper Mississipi Mash-Out (UMMO) entry slots are quickly disappearing!

The UMMO is one of the largest and most competitive homebrew contests in the country. We limit entries to 1000 in order to get everything judged in one weekend and to ensure judging quality. We have a large number of master and nationally ranked BJCP judges and make sure to have experienced judges on every panel.

But enough boring judge blather. How about prizes? We got bling: http://www.mashout.org/content/awards.html

We got special guests: http://www.mashout.org/content/speakers.html

Don't miss the 16 single-hopped double IPAs for volunteers to sample, the banquet, the raffle.....

You have 9 days til the deadline. Get on it.

Homebrew Competitions / Bumble-hopped: UMMO 2012
« on: December 22, 2011, 02:32:05 PM »
The Upper Mississippi Mash-Out (UMMO) registration is now open.

The UMMO is one of the largest, most competitive homebrew competitions in the country.

This 2012 UMMO will be bigger and better than ever.

Special guests include Gordon Strong and Nathan Smith.

Another highlight will be the single-hopped double IPA tasting for all volunteers. We've lined up about a 12-15 of the newer/dank/citrusy high-alpa hops and will be using them in the same base double IPA for your tasting pleasure.
