It's the star san that you don't want to soak in too long.  I left a few fittings in it for a couple weeks and it removed all the plating.

Very nice meeting y'all!
It may take a couple days to recover.
Some impressions:
1) seminars seemed generally less scientific and more basic this year.  Did anyone else feel this way?
2) Need to make sure there's enough light the next time the Reception and Club Night are outside.
3) I love San Diego and even though it is pretty old, I love the Town and Country, too.
4) The conference app was great.

My first conference. Can't wait to do it again. Two thumbs up to the AHA. I can't imagine all the work involved to make something so big operate as smooth as it did. Outstanding job.
Seminars did seem a little basic. My favorite - Brewing Session Beers by Andrew Mitchell from New Belgium. He gave a lot of tips and how to's. Not only how they do it at the brewery but how he has adapted his homebrews.
My wife loved the conference grounds and all the flowers. Room was outdated but very clean.
The app was awesome. Used it exclusively.
Regret missing the meet-up. My plan to attend was hi-jacked by beer somewhere in the homebrew expo.

We ate at the Old Town Mexican Cafe. Much better food and less expensive than the Coyote in my opinion.

I Haven't dry hopped them but have used a couple ounces at flameout all by themselves. I think it makes an excellent APA. This first one of my home brews that I sat back, patted myself on the back, and said "this is a damn good beer" I was drinking my pale ale single hopped with all Perle.

Mine still works. I uninstalled the app last month after not being able to download the January/February issue.
Reinstalled it over the weekend and it seems to be OK. Time will tell if it continues to work. Haven't had a whole lot of luck with this app.

What if it needs adjusted? Hasn't a lot of the conversion taken place by 15 min? I recently started checking mine at 10-15 like you all say and it has been OK. I just wonder what to do if it's not. I'm usually about 30 in by the time it's cool and checked so I figured it's too late to do anything other than take a note for next time.

I put it in a blender with hot water and stir slowly until dissolved. Always have been frustrated by how much of a pain in the ass it is to get completely dissolved.

Dumped a 10 gal. batch yesterday before mashing was complete. Making a hefe-wiezen with a multi step mash. Here's what I did:

12 lb Pale Wheat
8 lb Pilsner

Acid rest @ 111F 15 min.
Protein rest @ 131F 15 min.
B amylase rest @ 149F 30 min

This is where everything went wrong. When I reached 149 I started the timer and walked away without turning the burner off. The mash temp was 190F when I noticed about 10 min. later. I turned the pump on to circulate and the temp dropped to 170F. I tasted the mash and it wasn't very sweet so I decided to abort at this point and dump everything instead of proceeding. I'll give it another go next weekend.

Do you think this was recoverable or did I do the right thing?
I hated to spend more time and precious yeast on a batch that might be just OK a month from now.

Martin, I also use RO water. My last batch had 12 lb of wheat and 8 lb of pilsner. Using Bru'n water I added 24 ml of phosphoric acid to get my estimated mash PH to 5.5. (actual was 5.3) The sheet also recommended adding 3.2 ml of acid to the sparge. I have selected 100% dilution with RO.

Do I just ignore the sparge addition if using RO?

The worst part for me is the clean up. I brew in my heated garage but take the pots outside to empty and wash with the garden hose. I don't have water or a sink in the garage. Really sucks when the weather is cold. What do the rest of you do for clean up?

I have the same problem. The beer has been in the keg for one and a half months. It has no head at all even with a hard pour and looks very still. I can feel the carbonation in my mouth when drinking so I know it's there but you sure can't tell by looking at it. This is the first time I've added bourbon to a beer so have attributed it to that.
