Yeast and Fermentation / Re: Denny's Favorite 50
« on: April 26, 2011, 01:34:12 PM »
I used WY1450 in my last american black ale.  It's a regular beer I brew called "None More Black".  Denny, I'm sure you get that reference!  I really liked this yeast in that beer, nice and full bodied.  Previously, I used US-05 as my standard yeast, but this yeast makes a nice beer with good mouth feel.

man, that is NOT good.  threads like these make me reconsider beer altogether.   :-\

I wouldn't go that far man...just be moderate about it.  There's no reason to get all paranoid and be one of those anti-alcohol kooks.  Man, I don't get those people.  It's like one drink equals alcoholic to them; fakkin' insane.

We're fakkin insane here in America. Certain tests I've taken had questions like "do you drink and how much". Only found out later that if one answers more than 1-2 drinks a week they are considered to be alcoholic. Those tests wouldn't past muster in Europe for sure. It's our puritanical heritage and a holdover from the teetotaler movement. Bastards.
Oh my gad...that's insane.  Who comes up with this stuff?  Fak do they know?

Way to go dude.  All grain is awesome.  Brewing is awesome.  Best hobby I've picked up to date.

Saw this on Beer Advocate, it's pretty maddening.  I wasn't planning to watch the wedding anyway.  It's too bad the mass produced beers like Bud gave beer such a bad name.

Kegged a Mild in 5 days- force carb and drinking the next. It was clear and tasty.
Amazing...

I wonder if there really are only a few styles that work well doing this.  Probably an oatmeal stout wouldn't be good with a 5-7 day turn around, no?  Maybe a pale?

I should try this, I just typically do 2 weeks in the primary then 1 week in the keg.

General Homebrew Discussion / Re: Complements
« on: April 25, 2011, 08:29:02 AM »
There are two kinds of compliments on home brew.

The ones where they say "That's great!" and when you offer them another they say "No, I've had enough, but thanks anyway". :'(

And those that say "Can I have another"? before you ask. ;D

Tonight someone said:"I can drink this all day"..... I took that as a compliment.
This happened to me just today.  I gave some beer to a work friend and he told me it was awesome.  I asked for objective criticism on them and he said one of them needs work and the other one he could drink all day.  Good enough for me.
I like compliments as much as I like objective criticism to help me improve my beers.

Spell check at your local newspaper has been out-sourced to another country.

Would not surprise me a f*cking bit...

Actually that is a baby wild cottontail I have a tradition of catching
one every year and bringing it to my wife so she can have ewwwww and ahhhhhh time....

Yeah my cat sits @ the glass door watching the bird feeder and
wanting SOOOOOOO bad to get her paws on the feathered denzions.
She would not know what to do if she were outside since she has never
been out more than a few minutes in her 6 years of life.
Feral Cats make good target practice.

Same here, my cat is always meowing funnily at the birds and squirrels out the window.  He wouldn't know what to do with them if he got out, I don't think.  He's 9 years old and has only been out a few times ever, when he's been able to sneak out (that little bugger).
