Slaked lime treatment is effective for reducing alkalinity.  Can't see how it would reduce iron.

I use the faucet cap shown in the same amazon link that Hoosier posted. It stays on the outside and the reservoir tip catches the drip without trapping stale beer in the faucet.

These, along with picnic taps, need to be cleaned regularly.  I've had some real schmutz form in a picnic tap.

I wish we could get rid of the concept of percentage boil-off.  It makes no sense. Consider 5 gallons of wort boiling at 1 gal/hr:

Hour  vol   %/hr
  1       4   20
  2       3   25
  3       2   33
  4       1   50
  5       0   100

A fixed rate of fuel supplied boils off a fixed amount, not a percentage.

It would be 20 IBU.  The color will also be half the SRM of the original.  Not a problem for a pils.

Exactly.  I went with four taps and still have to use picnic taps in the keezer to get the variety.

Owning a mill lets you buy grains in bulk.  I don't feel comfortable without a couple of hundred pounds of malt in the house. ;D

Well if you have chlorine you must be on a municipal supply, rather than a well.  It should be fairly free of particulates, so the only filter you need would be the carbon filter for chlorine.  The rest of your water chemistry -- alkalinity, hardness -- can't be addressed with a filter.  RO will take care of that, but only necessary if alkalinity is too high to deal with.

What is it you want to filter out?  A lot of us on city water use granulated carbon filters to remove chlorine.

Alkalinity is a total of carbonate and bicarbonate ions, the relative amounts dependent on the pH.  In the US, the total amount is given as though it were all carbonate, specifically calcium carbonate.  We need to know what compound is being used in Belgium for alkalinity, since you need a molecular weight to get from mmol/L to ppm.

If they are using calcium carbonate, your alkalinity would be 298 ppm.
