Beer Travel / Colorado and Utah Trip?
« on: August 28, 2012, 12:34:17 AM »
Well if you are in Moab you might just skip the brewing scene there and head to the liquor store. Try some of Epic Brewery beers, they are out of SLC and only brew regular strength beers. Anything in the Exponential series they put out is worth trying and Brainless is an excellent Belgian beer.

Beer Travel / Iowa?

I'm headed to Okoboji Lake area next week. Are there any beers around there that are worth seeking out? I'm going via Omaha so anything on the way would work as well!

No it kicks on right away I can feel it click.  I'm now thinking I need to run at least one loop with power to the compressor.

Equipment and Software / Keezer and love control TS2

Just wondering if anyone can help out with hooking up my love control. I took out the original thermostat for my chest freezer and wired the TS2 in but it won't kick the compressor on. It has power and reads the temperature probe just fine. I have went through the programming several times and everything seems to be fine. I have also unwired the control and went straight from the power to the compressor to make sure that works and it was fine. I have tried the compressor wires in every configuration I can think of but am hoping someone else has the same control and can help me figure this out.

The power supply is in 7&8. I have tried every configuration of the compressor wires in 9,10,& 11. The probe has a reading and a light is on under the "snowflake" on the front of the control but the compressor doesn't run. Is this just a bad control?

Equipment and Software / Building a garage brewery
« on: March 18, 2011, 08:52:17 PM »
I'm soon going to be the father of twins so I need to streamline my brewing process.

I am thinking of turning a section of my garage into my brewery. I'm thinking of using my 15 gallon pot for my hot water for my mash in and sparge with a gravity setup above a mash tun keg and then a transfer pump to a second keg as my boil pot. This would require me to have two burners, one for the 15 gallon pot and another for my boil pot. I have 1 propane burner, but not sure how safe this is to use indoors? Does anyone have any suggestions for what burner I should use or get? Also the kegs are not "built" yet. Any suggestions for how to do this? I'm thinking of using a grinder to cut the lids, buying a false bottom for the mash tun and drilling for my fittings. I have heard that a sanitary welder should be used to cut the tops but I'm not sure how to go about finding someone who does that and I've seen the grinder work just as well.
