Bottled my kriek Saturday, won the superbowl, and had a great core workout today... it's been a good weekend  ;)

What position did you play?  I didn't see you on the field  ;D

Congrats.  ( ouch, that hurt  ;) )

Wish I could make sparks when I snap my fingers.

If you figure it out, just don't do it at any beer festival, if you catch my wiff, I mean drift.  ;D

Events / Re: NHC 2013 Hotel?

What link? I don't see any special link for the hotel in the email.

On the hotel page of www.ahaconference.org (probably won't be on there until 9am on Tuesday.

What if you are booking via the link?  Is that going to be a special link for that rate only?

Also, like previous years, are there going to be the early and late days at the discounted rate? ( i.e. Tuesday before and Monday after )

You might regret it if you book an early flight for Sunday. ;)

Which is the nice thing about this year...I can catch my flight at 2:30pm and still be home by 5pm.

And it is a great time hanging out with 1500-1800 homebrewers!
Last year was 1800+.  This year might closer to 2500 :)

The more the merrier ( or hairier or scarier  ;D )

General Homebrew Discussion / Re: Water Book!!!

Sorry to rain water on your parade, but I've seen this book's release dates as last April, September, Christmas, and now April 2013.  Not to mention John and Colin post frequently on their Facebook pages that they are working on the water book (the most recent one was last week I think).

These guys seem like they are really trying to nail to info down rather than crank out a book, which I absolutely appreciate.

I hope it's out for NHC so I can get my copy signed...but if not, I can wait.

Besides, I still have the other books I haven't finished.  I get sleepy when I read so it takes me longer  ;D

Last year was my first year and I definately recommend the full package.  The seminars have some great info and most serve beer, some of which is related to the content of the talk.

And the banquet is not to be missed.  I was a lone traveler last year, and met some great people at my table from all over the country.  The meal and beer pairing was also excellent.  And it is a great time hanging out with 1500-1800 homebrewers!

Events / Re: Conference website

The site says 1pm MST for the conference. 9am EST for the hotel.

The hotel EST time and the conference MST...someone is going to get this mixed up, I'm sure.

General Homebrew Discussion / Re: Brewin' in the rain

I'll take rain or snow over wind any day.  I have a pop up shelter I can put up to block rain.  No matter what I do to block wind, it always tried to blow the flame out.

This could be a great year.  Hopefully the end of illegal homebrewing in the US.  Just a note, the Alabama legislative session starts Feb. 5th...the same day as the NHC registration.  Coincidence or karma?  ;)

I don't know how far north you are and how far you are willing to drive, but the Seacoast Homebrewers meet at A&G Homebrew in Portsmouth, NH the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7pm.

We have our next meeting on February 13th.

Wow...quite a slap to the face of Magic Hat.  I'm not a big fan of their beer, but crappy?

And what, no NH?  We have a Redhook, Smuttynose, Portsmouth Brewery, not to mention a whole slew of nano's open or opening ( White Birch, Earth Eagle Brewing, Throwback, Blue Lobster, Moonlight Meadery - I know, not beer )...and of course...Budweiser ;D

And I particularly like the Seattle list, having tried several at NHC last year - Elysian, Snosqualmie Falls, and Black Raven being my favorites.
