Once they are all out, I'm going to throw each book into my brew kettle and see what I get. ;D

I think Colin or John said they're shooting for September 2013.

Events / Big Brew Day 2013 - Recipes
« on: March 14, 2013, 08:52:33 AM »
Does anyone know when they will announce the recipes for the Big Brew Day on May 4, 2013?

I only ask because we talked about it last night at our homebrew club meeting (Seacoast Homebrewers - Portsmouth, NH ) and are planning to have quite a few brewers attend.

Kegging and Bottling / Re: how to transfer between kegs
« on: March 13, 2013, 06:52:48 AM »
I think a jumper between the two liquid out ports would work, filling the other keg from the bottom up.  I'd run at low pressure so you don't lose too much CO2, or wait until it's in the second keg to carbonate.

Sodium Pentothal.  Removed inhibitions and makes you more willing to talk.  I don't think it's necessarily truth serum, but you're so relaxed you'll probably give something away.

Hell, a few beers work does the same thing for me.   I myself wouldn't mind being wrapped up in Wonder Woman's golden lasso  ;D  (Whoops...too much truth there)

Creepy, crazy, worthless, candidate to scrub warp conduits...take your pick.

If you get your scoresheets back before the official results are announced and there's no indication of placing on the coversheet, still keep the other bottles safe until the official results are announced.

Last year I got my sheets back with nothing marked for placing, but when Janis released the results, I had gotten 2nd place for one of my beers.  Luckily I hadn't drank the other ones yet ( a lager so rebrewing was not an option ).

Extract/Partial Mash Brewing / Another noob question

Definitely test the gravity for a couple days.  If it doesn't move and you're close to final gravity, bottle it up.

Equipment and Software / Re: hop rhizomes newbie

I just hit mine with liquid fish fertilizer once or twice a year.  Seems to be all they need.

Do you make that with a bass-o-matic?  ;D

I will top dress my 4 plants ( 2 cascade and 2 centennial ) this year with a mixture of manure and soil.  What other fertilizing regiment do you use throughout the growing season?  Is a hit of manure in the spring enough nitrogen to feed them until flowering time?  Do you switch fertilizers at a particular time of the year?

My cascasdes do well ( not 7 lbs well but ok ) but my centennials get half way up the trellis and stop.

Surfin':  what variety did you buy?

Congrats Mississippi!!!  Great work all around!

Who to vote for?  That's your choice, but I do have my opinion ;-)

Besides their bios on the AHA site, The Brewing Network will be doing interviews with all the candidates in the month of March.  In the past, they've done them at the beginning of the Sunday Session, so you don't have to wait until the end of the program.  Check out their webite, for the show schedule (sometimes their Sunday Session is on Monday).

Fred...when are you going to be on?
