i used this once in my first batch of beer(a wheat porter).

any recommendations or thoughts for a comparable strain from white labs or wyeast? i have been using mostly wyeast 1056 for just about everything but was thinking about trying this recipe again.  i am unfamiliar with wheat yeasts.

i want to make the jump to all grain, but don't have the time or space right now.  i've been brewing extract partial mash beers for two years and have a blast and they keep getting better.

I will bottle my first pale ale and brew my first thanksgiving specific beer, a maple brown ale.

is this your yeast denny?

maybe this has already been talked about but I've only been here for three months.

tell me about it.  if it is.  i usually use 1056.  I'm curious about other strains.

what's your OG?

i'm curious about what scenario pitching more yeast at bottling should be done.  I'm fermenting an iipa(1.090) and wonder if i should consider this.

General Homebrew Discussion / Re: Falcon - New hop?

I brewed a straight apa with these hops two weeks ago. as I was vigorously stirring for pitching I was totally digging the wonderful mango notes I was smelling. I'm bottling it this weekend. I'll get back when it's ready.

Ingredients / Re: hops for a porter

thanks for all the feedback.  I've been using chinook and wiilamette.  and a touch of cascade in the last batch.  it's a wheat based porter(forgot to mention that. sorry), so not very traditional. I'm just really experimenting to find something i like a whole lot with this recipe.  i tried one at my learn to brew class about a year and a half ago and really liked it.  i was given a recipe for the wheat porter i tasted and liked it so i thought id play around.  i think the next batch i might try a little ahtanum.

probably should have given these details first thing.  not sure why i didn't.

anyway, any new thoughts on the matter?

also, still just lme/partial mash full volume brewing as my current time and space allow.

General Homebrew Discussion / maple beer
« on: August 17, 2011, 02:46:17 PM »
starting to think about a thanksgiving beer.  i'd like to try something with a nice, not over the top maple flavor.

anyone have thoughts about brewing with maple syrup?  or advice?

i'm sorta thinking brown ale into porter range.  they seem like the most forward recipes that would go well with maple.
