General Homebrew Discussion / Re: IPA or IPL?

I bought a few Brew Dog Sunk Punk beers and it tasted like an IPA but was brewed with lager yeast.

REPLACE IT!  I have a 5 gallon one I made hand grenade mix in, it is a high in alcohol drink you can get in New Orleans.  I did this about 5 years ago and left what wasn't drank in there for about 3 days and it still smells like the mix.  So I say cut your losses and double check next time. Happy Brewing!

When I was stationed in Sicily one of my friends there called them because he had some questions about which one to get.  He told them he was in the navy and he was looking to get one for the shop.  They ended up sending him one for free with about 100 k-cups.

Beer Travel / Re: Be in Paris Next Week. Where should we go for beer?

Paris is a great city, just beware of people selling things, begging, trying to get you to play games and things like that.  I have been there twice and it is a great time.

Ingredients / Re: Coffee Addition into Secondary

I did a Double chocolate double coffee imperial stout and I brewed 1 shot of espresso for every 24oz and it turned out good.  It did have a bit of a strong coffee but that is what I was going for.  I brewed it, cooled it and added it at bottling.

It has been cold and we are now getting a little snow.  My last 3 brew sessions were in below freezing weather.

Equipment and Software / Re: New Williams 2.5 Gallon mini kegs

Was wondering where you got you information?  I did a little research on Google to see if I could find anything, didn't see anything that caught my eye.  As far as I know Williams is a reputable brew store ( I have never purchased from them).  Also the description says they are made of 304 stainless steel so I would think a good cleaning and you should be OK.

Going to brew a chocolate stout and transfer an IPA to secondary for dry hopping some time this week.

I've just poured it on top plenty of times with no issues.

Commercial Beer Reviews / Re: BrewDog Hardcore IPA

5am Saint, Tokyo and punk IPA are pretty easy to find, but it seems I can only get HMNII from the UK.

Well if you look at their web page you can order beer from them I had it shipped to Sicily while I lived there with no problems.  It is a little expensive so if you do it make sure you order around 24 to fill a box shipping doesn't change if you order 12 or 24.

I have had hardcore and that is about correct 3 or 4 or these will get you messed up.  I like the hardcore but I do prefer Punk IPA over it.  I have also had 5 AM Saint, Sunk Punk, Hello My Name is Ingrid, Toyko and a few others they have.  I would have to say if you can get your hands on a bottle try Sunk Punk and Hello My Name is Ingrid.  These are probably my favorite.

General Homebrew Discussion / Re: How many Military Home Brewers on here?

I am currently stationed in Sigonella Sicily in the Navy for 28 more days at least.  Got in to home brewing the first part of the year and love it.  I have a friend that does wine to thank for getting me started.

Just curious to everyone's thoughts on this.  I am not really a big fan of Sam Adams to begin with and have only had one beer by anchor it is was...OK.  I just don't think now is the time for smaller breweries to be fighting with each other.  I get a big impression that micro brews generally try and help each other out and I think that is awesome.
