Ingredients / Re: Prickly Pears
« on: October 12, 2011, 04:51:16 AM »
Sounds like it will be good.  Prickly Pears grow all over here is Sicily so they are easy to come by and taste great.  You will have to let me know how it turns out.

Done Brewing until next year when I get all my house hold goods from here in Sicily.  My pumpkin ale did finish bottle conditioning this weekend though and turned out pretty good.

There is a brewry in Spearfish SD( west river), not sure if they ship east river or not.  They are called Crew Peak Brewing and if you can find some 11th hour IPA pick some up or any of their other beers.  11th Hour is my favorite though.
maybe just a typo but its crowpeak. ;)
Yea it was a typo.  Good looking out.  Typed this up on my iTouch and I sometimes forget to check for all the stupid changes it likes to make to what you type.

The Pub / Re: GPS?
« on: September 23, 2011, 10:26:24 PM »
I have a Garmin and it has worked pretty good it has both Europe and US maps.  It has worked pretty good but you only get one free update on the maps.  I have had a few one way street problems with it in Sicily but it has worked great for all the other places I have traveled in Europe.  Roads change here so much though it is kind of hard to keep anything updated.  Most big GPS companies will have maps available for download online.

Kegging and Bottling / Re: Does anyone use Growlers to bottle with?
« on: September 21, 2011, 10:43:55 AM »
I use 1 and 2 liter to bottle with and just leave a little more head space(not much) if using a bottle filler and all mine come out good.

Here are the places I have ordered brewing supplies with and I have never had any problems with any of them. I am currently stationed in Sicily so I can not really compare shipping prices with shipping in the states.

http://www.midwestsupplies.com/
-They are one of the best priced place I have shopped at and refund shipping they don't use. (NOTE: I live in Sicily)

-Never had any problems with these guys a little spendy though

http://www.homebrewers.com/
-this one is between the two I have mentioned above

-Great site and I know they had a shipping promo going one in July they may still have it.

I hope this helps

Either a Pumpkin Ale for the fall or an Oatmeal Stout. One will get done this weekend and the other the following week or 2.  Pretty excited for the Pumpkin Ale thought,

As long as you are making a small batch(5 gal. or what ever) and are willing to see out it turns out I would try it.  I am all for trying new things.  Who knows you may like it.

A pumpkin spice ale or Oatmeal Stout not sure yet but one will get done this weekend and the other the next.

if you can read this you are probably not brewing enough ;D
Agreed! I am on 25 gallons finished so far and have 20 more in the works and would do more if it wasn't for the hot summers here in Sicily and me getting forced separated from the Navy.
