I am quite bummed as my Nut Brown Ale is probably my crown jewel brew.  I'd like to see it judged further than my friends killing the keg the day I put it on....

Just got my sheets.  Once again, the beers I filled off the tap got infected.  I guess I need to learn my lesson this time.  Two years in a row I lost 3 beers!   >:(

At least my Steam Beer got through which was the only one I bottled from the start.   :)

Hmmm... Time to check what you're doing when you bottle off the tap.  I sanitize EVERYTHING and use a new picnic tap if I'm bottling for competition.

I only spayed the Perlik inside and out with StarSan.  I need a better process for sure.  Next year I clean the lines and tap and flush with sanitizer.

My Steam Beer got through in Philly but my Nut Brown Ale did not.  Want to see that sheet to see if it was because I took it off the tap again and it got infected or if it was a judging preference.

Very happy to have a dog in the hunt again though!!!!   ;D

Congrats Dave!  Sorry, my post got lost in the whiner shuffle so I figured I'd congratulate  myself..... ::)

To the whiners and complainers, if you don't like the format, don't enter.  But stop whining and complaining.  This is supposed to be fun.  Stop taking yourself so %$@#! seriously.

Done now.

I used tap water for years back in my extract days.  I have good municipal water though not well....

Amber Balanced works pretty nicely IMO.
Thanks! That's what I'm going to use.

IIRC I found the San Francisco water profile online.  It was very close to my own so I didn't change anything.  Worth a quick look unless you brewed already.  Amber balanced should be just fine too.

New personal low score of 15.5...on a beer that medalled last year. LOL
currently drinking a liter of it since I don't have to save it for finals.

Hopefully your scoresheets will have some indication why it was scored so low.  That sucks...I've had entries judged in the same day that won a gold in one comp and got a 25 in another.

I submitted two solid entries last year and both scored in the low 20's.  I was incredulous until I tasted the finals bottles only to find one with an infection and the other with massive oxidation.  I hope I corrected for it this year as I took two off the tap again.  Difference this year though are the Perlick faucets that I sanitized ahead of time and used the flow adjuster to minimize the foam.  Fingers crossed.

When do you think Philly will be posted?  I don't want to keep hitting refresh for no reason.... :)

made the mistake of having very hot tacos last night. 2am heartburn from hell and couldn't go back to sleep.

so, figured why not start the brew day around 3am. all done and yeast pitched by about 8am for my northern german pils.

now i think nap time is calling  ::)

Love it.  Nice job all around!
