I had one that had fallen off, or been hit by a truck - definitely out of shape.  I took all the fittings off of it and gave it to a guy that makes swords out of old lumber mill saw blades.  He uses it to dunk the sword into water after hammering it on the anvil.

Not a common usage, but the idea is something that needs to be filled with water but doesn't want a 55 gallon drum.

There are a number.  A few come to mind: Ellis Island a block off the strip on Koval has cheap beer they brew themselves on the premesis,  not the hoppiest if you're into IPAs; and Main Street Station has cheap beers @ the bar in the casino (same beer is more in the restaurant).  Teneya is @ the north end of town, I've never made it that far.  Sin City is in the Miracle Mile Mall in the Planet Hollywood - excellent beers there.

On a three tier, a sight glass can be useful on the HLT since it is up high and checking from the top can be difficult.  On my brew kettle I wouldn't want one because it would be difficult to clean.

That's a great price for that cooler.  I have one and love it.  I also got a 70qt which I find bigger than most of my needs.  The 52 is my go to.

At work, we had a terrible problem shipping product that would leak if left on it's side or upside down.  No matter how many arrows or labels we used, the product would arrive leaking.

We solved it - pretty much with human nature.  We put the products into buckets.  No UPS or FedEx driver will load a five gallon bucket on it's side - they just don't want the delay they'd get if there was that kind of leak.

Pretty much overkill I think, for a bottle going to a competition though.

I made a milk stout for my daughter's wedding in August two years ago.  Because it was hot out I thought the sweetness would be appreciated by a "mixed" crowd.  It went over very well.

Then I noticed a trend of sweet stouts appearing.  I thought it was just me.

Though I loved that beer, I haven't made it since.

Go slow with the honey!  You can always add more, & can't undo it.  I usually start with a cup, add 'till I like it.  Then calculate that up to the full batch.  When I measure it out. I'll add half of what I have measured, taste, if it needs more I'll add half of what's left, if it needs more, half of what's left...    Until I'm happy with the result.  (I have gotten to the point of no change & had to reach back into the honey pot, but you'll get a feel for it by that point)

I do use Campden and Sorbate as directed.

I don't want to hijack the thread but wanted to ask about the mash tun.  It looks like you have enough space for a cooler.  If that is what you are planning to use, make sure you have some protection from the heat from the boil kettle burner, or don't start your burner until all your sparging is done & you've removed the cooler.

I love hopsdirect.  A couple years ago I was looking for Cluster rhizomes (Cluster? yeah I know, but they grow great here).  They were the only farm that was offering them.  They are also a great place to buy any hops that you are not growing yourself.

Hops direct from Yakima area sells rhizomes so can ship to Washington st.

I got a 70 qt when they went on special @ Amazon for something like $39.  It's all I ever need (and more than I usually need).
