Homebrew Competitions / Don't Miss Out on 2013 Slurp & Burp Open

Time is running out to enter the 16th Annual Slurp & Burp Open.  Deadline for entries is next Friday, March 1st at 5PM.  Competition date is March 9th at Max's Fanno Creek Brew Pub in Tigard, OR.
Judges are still needed as well.  If you've never been to Portland OR and you like beer (which I KNOW you do), you owe it to yourself to visit Beervana.

You can register your entries and register to judge Slurp & Burp online at our competition website.

That's right, Slurp & Burp is ONLINE!
You can register your entries, pay for your entries, and sign up to judge all online.
Entry deadline is March 1st at 5PM.
Entries can be dropped off at all HB shops in the PDX metro & beyond.
You can also mail your entries to Brew Brothers Hombrew Products if you're outside the Portland area.
Judging will take place on March 9th at Max's Fanno Creek Brew Pub in Tigard, OR.
Come out and join us for Slurp & Burp and take part in the largest raffle of homebrew products and beer related items in the NW.

Ingredients / Palm Sugar?

I bought some palm sugar at an Indian grocery and used it in a Belgian Blonde.
The stuff I bought was sort of oily & pressed into little "pucks" and came from Thailand.
It had interesting aromatics and left a nice residual sweetness to the finished beer.
However, because of the oily nature of the sugar the finished beer has a hazy clarity.
And as someone noted in an ealier post, it also contributes a bit of a buttery slickness to the beer.

My question is:
Is this sugar the same thing as Jaggery?
If not, how does Jaggery differ from the palm sugar that I used?

The ever popular Slurp & Burp Open will be held in Estacada, OR at Fearless Brewing on March 10th (not 3/3 as posted earlier).
This is one of the NW's biggest homebrew competitions and this is our 15th year.

Hosted by Fearless Brewing and put on by Strange Brew Homebrewing Club.

1st Round entries for the NW Region will be judged at Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB) in Portland OR on April 21st.
