General Homebrew Discussion / Re: Looking for a Good Online Supply Store

No one has said any thing about Brew Brothers .Biz  I have used most all of the major suppliers and BrewBrothers beats them all hands down in price and especially in service. 2nd day Fedex shipping is quite reasonable for yeast or if you are in a hurry

Yeast and Fermentation / Re: Secondary Fermention
« on: January 05, 2013, 11:46:22 PM »
It was in the primary for 2 weeks. Temps have been held at 66 + or - 1 degree. Made a starter and it took off like mad. Looked like it had pretty much finished when put in the secondary. Kind of stayed quite for a week then it hasn't quite bubbling. I'll give it till next week then crash cool it if the weather stays cool. then bottle it.

I have had my stout in the secondary now for 4 weeks and it is still bubbling. I tasted and smelled it and it seemed fine. Should I just let it go? Yeast was Wyeast 1084.
 OG 1.070
In to secondary 2 weeks later 1.021
Checked 4 weeks in secondary 1.016

My kids got me a craft beer club membership. 3 bottles of 4 different craft beers. 4 shipments, every other month. ;D It's going to be interesting and fun.
I bought my self a pound of Citra and Simco hops. Brew Brothers rocks.

Bottling my smoked punkin ale. I know I'm late. Then I will be brewing my smokey oyster stout. I can't seem to keep it in stock. Any one that has tried it loves it. Took it to my club meeting and they went crazy over it. I do like my smoke and a good cigar.

When rehydrating dry yeast and with Go-Ferm Protect do you still need to add a yeast nutrient to the boil?

Try this   http://www.byo.com/stories/recipeindex/article/recipes/114-stout/2375-black-pearl-oyster-stout-
I brewed this with a few changes. Smoked 2# of 2 row with alder. It came out super. Took some to my HBC meeting for a open judging finished 2nd to a killer mead with a 40 something score. They are still talking about it 2 months later.  Mine ended up at 6.9%. The only people that didn't like it were the ones that wouldn't taste it.

Nobody has said anything about the Brew In A Bag method. It works very well and is easy and cheap way to do all grain. http://biabrewer.info/

I would like to know how to use Gelatin Finings. I have a Pliny the Elder in the secondary and with all the dry hops I'm afraid I will not be able to get them all to settle out. Any info on the proper procedure that will help will be greatly appreciated.

I just transferred one to my secondary. OG 1.086  1.015 in to the secondary that makes a ABV  9.45. It was in the primary 16 days. Used 2 packs of rehydrated US-05. It tastes pretty good and it's not even dry hopped yet.
