The Pub / Re: Garden harvest pics....
« on: September 09, 2010, 12:24:18 PM »
i made four 3x6 raised gardens about 2 feet high so i don't have to bend over. made them out of old two by 6,8,10 etc from the old deck.  love them.

be careful putting shed on low spot if it really floods.  all my neighbors ran their sumps to their back yard. water found my low spot where my shed was. despite being slightly elevated, it trashed the flooring (part of shed was a play house with vinyl flooring)

Extract/Partial Mash Brewing / Re: Domaine Dupage

this is one of their better products. their dog day dortmunder lager is not bad, the cain and ebel rye is okay and so is the bitter end ale not bad.  not a big fan of their ebelweiss though.  good luck brewing this.

well, i have lost interest in pro football since the cleveland clowns left for baltimore.  however, keith, i hope we are discussing a national championship game between the tide and the buckeyes, in january.  though, i suspect the tide will still be heavily favored.  but the scarlet and crimson clash would be fun.

oh, i like to  read okay.  things like : "the everything homebrewing" book by some guy named drew something ;D
seriously, i do enjoy a good read, it is just that only such a small portion of the required literature in high school i found tolerable.  i enjoyed the grapes of wrath, and of mice and men.  i liked 1984, but not so much animal farm.  and the book we talked about earlier, the jungle, was not worthy of complete reading but it did make for good referance and discussion

i had to read the jungle for a high school english class.  the communist manifesto came much later while i was in the military. know thy enemy.  i will give upton siclair/sinclair? credit because as i read marx, i reflected back on the jungle and how he incorporated marxism ideology in to the story.  i still hated it.

cap fwiw, i hope i didn't offend you, i just really hated being forced to read that book.  to this day (over 30 years), i still get a little uneasy when i open up canned meats, soups, beans.

i did hear about the new explosion, last i heard no one was killed.

1.  you would probably be okay with the weather stripping and only 1/4 inch gap. but
2.  you could pane down the high spots with a good hand or draw plane.
3.  take the boards apart.  set up a table saw with the fence and rip a small portion off of one side of each board. then use this side and set the fence up again and rip the other sides to say 5 inch total  (basically the 6" side is 5 1/2 inch wide and you are taking a 1/4 inch off each.) that way at least you are starting with boards that are exactly the same width.  this will make it easier for you to make them even no matter if you butt them, dove tail, miter etc.

1.  how did this thread go from mindless rambling and licking toads to all this.
2.  sorry cap. i think the jungle by (upton siclair i think) absolutely sucked.  right up there with the communist manifesto. both of which i was forced to read,  though the image of the chicago meat industry is utterly disgusting.
3.  and now that i think about it, less animals more barely hmmm. i think i will go back to licking toads.

Commercial Beer Reviews / Re: Harvestmoon

I have not been interested in trying it, though my beer of the day calendar recommended it a few days ago.  I have not really liked the blue moon either but am not a big wheat fan.

my favorite two.  google find chuck norris. it replies "google won't search for chuck norris because it knows chuck norris finds you.

my son was quoted in his high school yearbook where he would graffiti his name if he could.  there in black and white it says "chuck norris's forehead. because if i can get away with that i can get away with anything"
