I'm a big fan of hot peppers, but these beers are disgusting.  WAY over the top hot!!!!

Although, I'm keeping two bottles to use for cooking.  Chili or bread come to mind.

Equipment and Software / Morebeer ultimate sparge arm

I ordered this yesterday to go with my ToP RIMS system.  Who has this sparge arm?  Did I make a good purchase?  What should I know?  It sure looks like the perfect solution for me.  The blichmann autosparge just seems to many moving parts.

Equipment and Software / Blichmann Boilermaker pots

I recently started using these pots, and I must say the way the tube creates a bit of a siphon, it leaves less than a quart of wort after transfer to the fermenter.  And that's a 1bbl batch.  But, I don't like putting my hops in bags.  In my old keggle system, I used a bazooka screen, and just threw the hops in.  Never an issue. 

I'm fearful if I do this now, it will clog the tube.

Any words of wisdom from Boilermaker users?

Homebrew Clubs / when homebrewers go pro

Another brewer and I created our local club back in 2008.  He has long since stopped coming to meetings. 

Our club is doing better than ever now, and I've been the elected president of the club since it's inception.  However, I now own a small production brewery, and feel that it's time to step down from a leadership position in the club.  I will still go to meetings, and help out whenever possible. 

But, (and I hate to say this) somehow I feel this is MY club.  I know that's wrong, and it's time to let others take some leadership duties.  But, in the back of my head............

Anyway, anyone got some words of wisdom?

Events / Denver Beer Week/Pre-GABF events

We are off to Denver first thing Monday morning and it was great to learn that Denver Beer week will be going strong.  I noticed a lot of pre-GABF parties, with free bbq and such.  We will definitely be hitting as many as we can, but wondering if any long timers have recommendations as to which ones are the best. 

Anyway, for the Friday night session, look for four guys in western style hop shirts.  I'll be the handsome one.  LOL

Ingredients / Bairds vs. Fawcett Maris Otter

I've always purchased Bairds MO for our Amber.  Last order came in and it was Thomas Fawcett MO.  I didn't think any big deal until I opened the bag.  Much more foreign material in the Fawcett.  At least it seemed that way.

Anyone have direct experience with these two malt companies?

Last night, I was cleaning out the pickle jars, as we are making about 6 dozen quarts of dill pickles this weekend.  And I look up, and see all these nice cones on my hop vines.  And I wondered......

what would happen if we through a few cones into some of the jars. 

We're gonna give it a go.  Has anyone ever done this?

Going Pro / One year and Counting

Well folks, today is the one year anniversary of our first commercial delivery and the single bar we sell to will be tapping our "Kelly's Stout."  This was served at NHC in San Diego in the hospitality suite, if any of you remember.  It was the beer we won a homebrew contest with that allowed us to brew with a Nano brewer in town, who then convinced us to get our Brewer's Notice.  We have brewed 20 bbls, 10 gallons at a time.  What a blast of a year it has been. 

But, the better news is we just secured the equipment to start 1bbl batches.  Gotta love that.  We'll just triple capacity every year 'till we take down AB.  From best I can tell, it will only take about 20 years. 

(LOL)
