That's awesome Denny ;D

Yeah, it is.  I'm an unbelievably lucky guy to have been married to her for over 30 years.

My wife bought me my original homebrewing kit and has always been a huge supporter.  As an example...we're working on a bathroom remodel.  She wanted to get a custom made fused glass sink.  Very arty, very expensive...so expensive that I didn't ask how much.  If that's what she wants, that's what she deserves.  She brought home the prototype and I was astounded to see that she'd had the artist make glass hop leaves and cones and set them into the sink!  WOW!!!!

All I can tell ya, Euge, is that I haven't experienced any contamination from using them.  Maybe I should add "yet!".  :)

We are still working with a provider to work out all the issues.  This is being done by a volunteer for the AHA, so it's on his schedule.  But it was a topic of discussion at our last GC meeting and is a high priority item for us.  I'd like to assure you that it will be done in the next couple months, but realistically all I can say is that we want it in place ASAP.

I don't even measure.  I just fill up the dropper tube and squirt it into the fermenter.  Works every time.
When do you add it Denny, do you wait for krausen or do you add it after the yeast?

I wait to see if it's actually gonna be needed, then add if necessary.  The last few batches it was added once I saw that blowoff was starting.  It killed the blowoff pretty much instantly.

You might want to have your water tested. That would give you a good starting point. Many universities will do the testing for very little. If you do not know what your water baseline is, you will just be guessing by adding anything. Hope this helps...

Or you can get it tested at www.wardlab.com.  Test W-6 for $16.50 will give you all the info you need.

I've used a MixStir for the last 10 years and it works great.  As far as I can tell when compared to friends who use an O2 system, I'd have to say the MixStir is as effective in the results it produces.  I recently started using a stir plate for starters and I immediately saw benefits form it.
