All Grain Brewing / Re: How many here would buy a Grainfather???

brew boss also comes in 120V. If you're brewing in the garage putting a hook in the truss to mount a manual pulley to for the basket is no big deal... if you're in you're kitchen, yea, I wouldn't want a hook there...

if you haven't already, look into brewboss. I personally think its a much better system than other similar ones... blichmann would be the closest but brewboss is more affordable.

General Homebrew Discussion / Re: Mailing Beers

while stationed overseas... I sent home a 12pack of various belgian/dutch/german beers every month. All I used was a cardboard box and a ton of newspaper, all through the USPS. when I got home 2 yrs later, I found one box wrapped in cling wrap due to it got dropped and broke one bottle, all the liquid soaked into the newspaper, but I thought, that package must have been dropped hard cause I used ALOT of newspaper. these days, I would say do the same thing except wrap each bottle/can in bubblewrap first then either more bubblewrap or newspaper.

Equipment and Software / Re: Electric Brewing

cant you just wipe it off after every session?

this would do in a pinch for short term storage but is absolutely no substitute for a vacuum sealer...

I'm not a marshmallow fan but what I do know is store bought are disgusting. Homemade are so many worlds better... don't waste them in a beer. use them for smores and add this to your beer:

then drink the beer with smores.

Beer Recipes / Re: Blood Orange Hefeweizen

I have a blood orange tree in my backyard and do at least one brew every year. I can tell you that you will get more flavor using the zest than you will with puree. I usually try to get around the zest of 5-6 oranges for a 5gal batch. Not sure if you would still be able to find any now this late in the year but try it your way this time and next year, go grab some fresh oranges and try the zest.
