Hop Growing / Re: Anyone seen hops like these?

SUNBEAM GOLDEN HOP - alpha 4-5%
A beautiful hop with lemon-yellow leaves best grown in partial shade. Too much direct, hot sun will tend to brown the edges of the leaves. It originated in 1990 at the USDA Hops Research Farm in Corvallis, Oregon from an open pollinated Saazer 38 hop. Ornamental uses. Moderately resistant to downy mildew and verticillium wilt. Vigorous, matures early with good yield.

possibly?!

Talked to the SW Regional rep for Stone last night... Liberty Station has now been open for a short while... heard great things about it... if you get a chance, stop on by... food, beer, patio... special brews you won't be able to get anywhere else.

you can't legislate safety.... its all about control/money.

'If the self-driving car isn't safe enough, set it up like a drone where someone somewhere else could take control if needed or the whole time if required.'

That is a seriously scary response/suggestion... There are already WAY to many 'things' controling us... we don't need any more!

how often you water will be determined by type of soil used and how well its mulched. A mix of good potting soil and compost, don't use that commercial stuff with fetilizer already in it. Spread rabbit food all over the top of the soil, then mulch with alfalfa straw to something like 6-10" and water real well... then keep an eye on it to make sure you have good drainage and the soil stays damp, not dry or soaking wet.

My Cascades have started poking out of the ground.  It's kind of late for us down here, and I was worried they wouldn't even come back at all because of their poor health last year.  3 years of sever drought has taken it's toll, I even have cacti dying.  But they are back and looking good.

I keep hearing folks talk about how their plants aren't doing well due to the drought... don't you folks have plumbing and hoses?!

I've always read that you can grow them between the 35th and 55th parallels... I tried growing in PHX (33rd parallel) for about 5 yrs, had a little success but ultimately not worth it. I found for a region where its hot and dry you need full afternoon sun. So here in PHX they had to be on an East/South facing wall. They always had 3-6" of alfalfa straw mulched on them and they drank alot of water. I also noticed when it got to 105F and above they stop growing. The hardest part for me was getting them to survive over the winter... I either watered them to much or not enough...
