...I am back to my old profession which is that of a funeral director! But I guess in a way I still have things fermenting in that line of work as well! Ha!

This cracked me up. Welcome to the AHA (and the Forum)!!

Welcome to the AHA!

Timeline on adding directories? While deals are nice, I'd like to find shops when I'm out and about. Clubs would be good too.

Edit. Found what I needed. It was under deals. Maybe that option should be renamed.

Great feedback. Thanks Stevie!

I finally deleted Brew Guru today.  It still shows my membership as being expired.

Hey bboy9000-

I just searched our AHA Member database with the email associated with your Forum name and didn't see any records. If you want to send me your full name, city/state and current AHA Member number, I can look into it.

Great app for a first version.  Best logo too!  The alerts that you're near a brewery need some fine tuning.  I work within a few blocks of a couple of them but randomly throughout my day the phone notifies me that I'm nearby one of them.  I had to disable the notifications because it was getting out of hand.

Also when I tried renewing membership through the app it rejected my credit card.  Same card worked fine on the website. keep up the good work

Thanks for the feedback! Tuning in the frequency and location at which you are notified of a nearby AHA Member Deal is definitely something we have been looking into.

The Credit Card issue is interesting, though. I will be sure to pass that along to our Web/IT folks to look into the issue. If you recall when you tried to do this transaction, that could be helpful.

Also, if anyone runs into any other issues or has feedback, you can send it to or directly to me at

Thanks for using and enjoying Brew Guru!

Hey guys-

Thanks for letting us know. We're looking into this. I will post back with updates.

Questions about the forum? / Re: Sign in issues
« on: November 15, 2016, 10:47:34 AM »
A big reason is because login is for AHA members only, while the Forum consists of members and non-members.

When we switched over to our new site 3-ish years ago, we set up a system so a person signing up for membership can create a username/password that works on both the website and the AHA forum. When this type of user logs into the website, they should also be logged into the forum. However, if a person was a Forum user before becoming a member, the two logins likely will not be connected and the user is left with seperate login info.

If you'd like to have the same login for each, give our Member Services team a shout and they'll get you squared away. info(at)

The AHA is very excited to unveil the Brew Guru mobile app. It's a great tool for any beer drinker and homebrewer, and has added benefits for the AHA member.

Check it out here, and let us know what you think!

That's right, forum folk!

AHA Members have the opportunity to save 40% on Brewing Local: American-Grown Beer by Stan Hieronymus. That brings the grand total down to $12!

Here are some more details, and a link to participate in the presale:

General Homebrew Discussion / Re: Ridiculous recipes on AHA

In the case of these National Homebrew Competition recipes, that is exactly how they were submitted to us so that is how we post them. We don't want to start taking liberties and altering people's recipes.

That being said, the Zymurgy and AHA Web teams are devising a plan to address a standardization of recipes in print and on web, which would cover situations like unhelpful weight measurements and such.

As always, thanks for the feedback!!

General Homebrew Discussion / Re: Tuesday Beer Trivia: More Hops
« on: April 06, 2016, 08:55:14 AM »
Hey FaradayUncaged and Kramerog-

Guy who made this trivia quiz, here! Here is where I pulled the info from that I based this question off of:

For the Love of Hops by Stan Hieronymus
Page 266, paragraph 1:
"The first time Steve Dresler brewed a wet hop beer at Sierra Nevada he added five to six times the weight in wet hops that he would have were the hops dry. Soon he increased to that between seven to eight times the dry weight. The simple explanation is that wet hops contain about 80 percent water, while dried cones have about 10 percent"

I actually went into this question thinking it was around 5 times, so I was a bit surprised too, but Stan knows a thing or two so I took his word for it  :)
