I've seen people rig up exhaust hoods, like you might have over your stove top, to push steam outside.

I have the same issue in my house in the winter. I usually open the windows, set up some fans, and put on a jacket since my house is about to be freezing  8)

Thanks for the update, Crispy! We'll get this info spread around on the website and social media.

Very sad, indeed, Jim.

Gary Glass also had a few words to share about Byron and his influence on the beer and brewing communities:

Great find! We also have an "intro to kegging" guide on with some handy diagrams, tips on setup, cleaning, carbing and all that good stuff.

General Homebrew Discussion / Re: I'm doing a reddit AMA today!
« on: August 11, 2015, 10:03:02 AM »
A) Congrats!

B) I am not a redditor, but AMA - means ask me anything. While I doubt that the homebrewer crowd will try to rake you over the coals, it can't hurt to be prepared for off-topic questions.

thanks for the heads up!

This is awesome! Also, you can call it an "AMAA" (ask me ALMOST anything) if you want to play it on the safe side and reserve the right to not answer things.

I look forward to checking it out!

The old Commercial Calibration webpages were taken down because they took quite a long time to put together and would only get a dozen or so visits a month, and that was when it was doing well. It could go weeks without anyone going there at all. We opted to just keep a list and point people the issues via the electronic magazine.

I will absolutely bring this idea up with the Web and Zymurgy teams and see if it's something we'll bring back.

Hey all,

We've got a bulk of the 2015 National Homebrewers Conference seminars (audio and visual) online for AHA members to access. There is TONS of great material on all things beer, mead and cider. Be sure to snoop through past years, too.

You will notice a few seminars that currently don't have the slides available. We are working on tracking those down, and will get them available as soon as we possibly can. So hang tight!

Find the seminars here:

Just a heads up...

Audio and Visual presentations from the 2015 National Homebrewers Conference should be up by the end of the week.

We just wrapped up the 2015 National Homebrew Competition awards ceremony here in San Diego at the National Homebrewers Conference. You can find the results of the Final Round (and all the First Round results) here.

Congratulations to all the winners, and big thanks to all who entered and/or volunteered!

Zymurgy / Re: Zymurgy app frustrations
« on: May 26, 2015, 02:03:25 PM »
Thank you everyone for taking the time to list the bugs they are experiencing with the apps. I've passed these along to the app team and they are going to work with the app developers to get these issues hammered out.

Greetings homebrewers,

The 2015 AHA National Homebrewers Conference in San Diego is right around the corner, and we’re looking for clubs to pour at the famous “Club Night” celebration. Club Night is an opportunity for homebrew clubs across the country to put together a booth, dress up in costume (if you want!) and pour some of your club’s finest brews. It is quite the spectacle, and personally is one of the events I most look forward to during the conference.

The preliminary deadline for clubs to sign up is this Sunday, so act fast! For more information on the event, how your club can be involved and to register, visit this link.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone know that the AHA's Research & Education Fund program is now back open and accepting project proposals!

If you aren't aware of the program, check out this article for more information.

Check out completed REF-funded projects here.

If you are interested in submitting a proposal, check out the REF page on

Visit the Brewers Association current issues page for an update on legal and legislative matters that occured in April 2015!
