I'm not sure how big a wine bbl is, but a bourbon bbl is 53 gallons and will start to leak if not kept wet.  Not to mention the oxidation you'd get with only five gallons of beer in it.
I revived an old bourbon bbl once by filling it with water, which was at first leaking out through every stave at a gallon every 20 seconds, but sealed up completely in 12 hours.
Maybe if you kept the bbl upright with some water pooled on top of it and some CO2 "layered" on the beer......

Say you got one score sheet with a 29, the high end of "good" and one score sheet with 40, pretty much in the "excellent" range.  This would mean that the two judges could not come to a consensus on the overall quality of the entry, which would be confusing to the brewer.
After the notes are written by the judges, there needs to be some discussion to come to an agreement on this point and then the scores, if needed, are made to conform with this consensus.  Sometimes one judge is able to convince the other to raise his score to match the other and sometimes they meet toward the middle or come down to within five points.  If there is an impasse, one of the judges may call over a more experienced judge to get a third opinion.

Fortunately for me, I can stop off at my local brewery for a quart growler fill for $6.  Mmmm, Humidor IPA.  I guess it's not that great a bargain against the price of a 6-pack (that's about $13.50), but it's nice and fresh.

I went to a hop farm once, part of a conference trip at the NHC in Portland.  They cut all the vines down at the same time and lay them into a truck bed, then stripped all the leaves and stems off using a wire thresher looking thing (mostly home-made), then dried the hops on a mesh screen in a big barn with blowers underneath.
As a home grower, I plan to pick off the cones when enough are ready to brew a fresh hop beer.  Hopefully I'll be able to do this for two batches, but so far I haven't seen any cones.  I really want a fresh hop beer......

I don't use the Tito's for Martinis.  I keep a bottle of Bombay Saphire in the freezer for that.  I like mine with just a half cap of vermouth and almond-stuffed olives.

Brewing a Rye IPA today in the rain.  (It's much nicer in Tampa today at 76F than the usual lows in the 90's we've had lately.)
Gonna pitch half the batch with US-05 and half with Belgian 1388.  All Cascades.

The ones on the left are Centennials.  They are doing very well in their second year.  The Sterlings not so well.
I'm using the official Indian hemp that the hop sellers use.  That's also in the second year.  They come in precut 20ft lengths.

I've been to NYC once or twice a year for several years while my wife has business and I get to explore.  I generally download a map from beer-mapping and takes trains and walk a lot.
It's best to check the operating hours of the pubs in Brooklyn.  Spuyten Duyvel has not been open when I've gotten there in the afternoon before 4, as well as Mugs Ale House (very nice, friendly bar with a good local craft selection) and Barcade.  Brooklyn Brewery only gives tours on certain days and their tasting room is only open at certain times.  So plan ahead before taking the train all the way to Williamsburg.
In Manhattan, my favorite bar is the Blind Tiger in the West Village.  It is friendly, the food is good (and cheap for NYC), the bartenders knowledgeable and the beer selection is fantastic.  I always have a nice afternoon there.  Gingerman is nice, but usually very crowded.  I saw several cask ales being poured at Rattle and Hum but my bartender was so inattentive that it spoiled the experience.  Your results may vary.

It was quite nice this year to have more session beers.  When you're drinking for three or four solid days (way past my normal bed-time) Imperial IPA's just don't go down easy.  Jeff's session CAP was quite nice and a great number of cask milds seemed to be available.  I think the overall quality of the homebrews this year was exceptional.

UPS doesn't seem to ask any questions if shipping from a commercial address to another commercial address, but I also have an account and do the shipping paperwork on line, then drop it off at the local office supply store.  No need to tell anybody what it is.
