Beer Travel / Re: Spring Break in DC

I usually go once a year or so for work. Our headquarters is in Silver Spring.

Arlington is well worth seeing. The air and space is fantastic as is natural history. The memorials on the mall make for a solid day of walking. The capitol is a worthwhile tour.

The metro is very easy to navigate. I have never eaten at the same place twice in DC proper, usually tagging along with a co-worker

Made it to Chuck's hop shop(bought a shirt) all my college buddies call me Chuck.
Sitting at Reuben's now. They had a food truck serving a Cuban on a cinnamon sugar pretzel. Amazing. Beer is excellent.

I'll be in Seattle from Monday to Friday. Anything new to check out? It's been a few years since I've been.

I tried the otra vez. I stand by gose is gross. I love prickly pear cactus and love salt, I usually like grapefruit in beer. But that was foul.

I can't stand working when I'm home, but the damn cell phone rings some times.

I have to deal with the gubmint every day and it drives me insane.

My schedule must always be adjusted to accommodate theirs.

So apparently, I don't get the exceptions to the rule.  But I have.  And I enjoyed it when I did.
Try working for the gubmint, ha-ha, sad to see Mark leave. I learned a lot from him. So happy that this forum is so focused, concise and drama free though. This forum has really increased my brewing knowledge. Thanks Matt for keeping us civil

I grew up in Sylmar and my parents still live there.

McLeod's in van nuys is great. San Fernando brewing is good.

I think that as brewers we need to grasp accuracy vs. Precision.

For the most part for home brewing accuracy is way more important than precision. I.e. the strain is more critical than the pitch volume, close is good enough.

To trim down on my brew day time. I measure grain out into a large Ziploc, measure and label hops and other additions, essentially creating kits to brew from.

I also clean as I go, after transferring the wort from the kettle, I am usually done in 10 minutes, with only the kettle, a funnel the chiller and a hose to clean.

If people are helping, they want to help, I let them, especially for cleaning. I let them do the hop additions, move everything, and order the pizza.

I also will send them home with a bag of spent grain and a bread recipe.

Also, make sure they get to try the finished product in a few weeks.
