Commercial Beer Reviews / Re: SN Torpedo

I like Stone IPA just as much as I like DFH 60. I am an IPA kinda guy. Lots of hops and the fresher the better.

I am also a fan of more balance than the standard in my IPA's, more mouthfeel, some crystal malt. I think the yeast is a big player as well. But the hops are the showcase hands down.

Has anyone tried  Clipper City Loose Cannon out of Baltimore, MD. This is an EC IPA that is highly hopped, over 3lb/barrel.

Where's the information for submitting entries?  I've poked around the site a couple of times but didn't see it.  I'm sure it's right in front of my face.

Here's the link.

It depends on what kind of deals are available. Blichmann kettles are pricey, but they sure are fine looking kettles. I have one keggle, so I may get the Capster to help me out on converting some kegs.

How about some spices like allspice and clove. Just use a very small amount in the secondary of a porter. One could also add some bourbon as well. If you add bourbon...Denny's ears will be burning.  :D

I'm definitely going to submit my Wee Heavy and Belgian Dubbel. Anyone else thinking about entering this year?

I want to try this beer in all of it's West Coast glory.  ;D

In the IPA Superbowl of Eastern Conference vs. Western Conference, I don't think Torpedo would even be in the playoffs, Bluesman - they have a talented team, but just can't represent.

 :D

I had a roommate once that was a Deadhead. Their music grew on me. So here's to all the Deadheads out there.

God Bless The Greatful Dead!

OK...more pics

Here I am cutting some of the crossmembers.

Capozoli welding some of the crossmembers as he talks about the fresh killed chickens down on Kensington Ave.   :o

It was hard getting shots of Capp welding because that TIG welder generates 11,000F. It can blind you.

Preparing to weld the front frame assembly.

After that we headed down to Thang Long Vietnamese Restaurant on Kensington Street in Philly where we ordered Pho for lunch. It was close enough to the shop that we walked.  Excellent food!  8)

I liked the Hennepin and thought the Abbey was pretty good too. I was pleasantly surprised with their Witte. They are a first class operation AFAIAC.

I know some of you purge with CO2 to prevent oxidation when filling - could that be it?

My bet is on it just being able to 'hold pressure' though.

or both...pressure check and CO2 purge.

I know Carafa can be purchased dehusked, but I'm not sure about Pils. Then there's acid dehusked malt. If Trumer is  producing beer with naked malt, then it is probably commercially available. The question still remains...will it make a difference?
