The Pub / Will it kill my truck? (now with pics)
« on: March 31, 2010, 07:49:08 PM »
Four weeks till I'm Idaho bound. I heard it's state law there you have to have a camper. So, I got a STEAL on a 21ft Prowler. Only 1500$. It's in great shape. Thing is, i'm wondering if either of my trucks are up to lugging it up the Rockies. I have a 97' Silverado with a 4.3, and Holly has a 08' Trailblazer with a V6. I'm not really worried about tearing the bumper out of them, I'm more concerned if the motor / transmission will be up to it. What do ya'll think? I'd sure had to kill the Weaze-mobile somewhere in Wyoming.

Here she is boys. Will be pulling with the Trailblazer though. Not my truck.

In getting to move to Idaho, I decided I should get my CFC license. Worked with the stuff for 15 years now, but never had my green card. Took the practice test today. Before studying, I got 58% of 272 questions. So, hopefully a week or two of studying, I'll pass. Now I realized why I was ome schooled, and graduated early. I HATE books!!!

EDIT : title of topic changed, o sound less gay.  :-[

General Homebrew Discussion / Beer to move with.
« on: March 02, 2010, 07:23:57 PM »
Gotta be out of our house by May 1st. I have three empty kegs, and my blow number four fairly soon. I would like to have full kegs to take to Idaho with me, as it may be a while before I get to brew out there. Any suggestions on a couple good beers that will finish and be kegable by then, travel well, and enjoyed by the masses? I have a whole slew of beer drinkers lined up excited to try mine.

The Pub / Resume?
« on: March 01, 2010, 06:35:43 PM »
Looks like I will be in Idaho the first week of  May. I need to start getting some resumes out. How far back in my employment do I need to go? I have had a LOT of jobs. I was thinking of using my last two, maybe three. That would be about 10 years of history. sound reasonable?

House finally sold. The buyer wants us out in 30 days, but we are working on that. Not like we're moving cross town. My buddy who is a truck driver said he would move us when the time came. Well, his ruck is in the shop now, dropping a new engine. As of now, we are trying to scramble some more coin to hire movers. Sure would make things easier. If I drop off he board for a while, you'll all know why. See you suckers in Idaho! (or am I the sucker? LOL)

Ok, so not 100%, but things look real good that once I make it to Idaho, I'll have a job a Portneuf Valley Brewing. Sent some e-mails to the brew misstress, told my story, and begged. She said she would really like to meet me and talk when I get there, and in the meantime, send some samples to her. Cross your fingers for me!

So, I started a diet program yesterday. six meals a day, smaller portions, a protein and a carb. Drinking tons of water. ONe gallon plus per day. I'm hitting the tread mill, and weights. I started at 235, and My goal is 215. I'm happy to say, I've already lost 4.5#. I know a lot is water weight, but it's still cool to say I lost 4.5lbs.
Cool thing is, the plan I'm doing gives you a "free day". So, Sundays I can go nuts, and even hit the taps. Wish me best, my brewers.  8)

Commercial Beer Reviews / Double Bastard
« on: February 11, 2010, 08:56:27 PM »
Had a bomber of it tonight. I was just not really feeling it. I could taste to much alcohol, it was to carmelie, and nor hoppy enough. But, that's just one losers opinion.

Kegging and Bottling / Do I have a kegging issue?
« on: February 06, 2010, 09:48:01 AM »
Someithing just hit me last batch I kegged......When I rack, the hose I use does not go all he way to the bottom of my keg. It lays up against the side about halfway up the keg. So, as the beer comes out of the hose, it hits the side of the keg, and fans out to a stream about 4 inches wide. I'm just inviting all sorts of oxygen in here, aren't I?

Yeast and Fermentation / Going to rehydrate
« on: February 06, 2010, 09:24:51 AM »
I'm gonna brew a bitter today. US-05 is my good ole' go to yeast. Quite honestly, my palate cannot pick out big differences in yeast. Yet. So, I just stick with 05, because I know it. I'll have an OG of 1038, so I am just going to pitch one pack. I've nver rehydrated before, but after to listening to some old "Sunday Session" podcasts, I think I am going to try it, and form my own opinion on he idea of it. Worst that can happen, is I make beer.  :D

The Pub / Yay for the Droid.
« on: January 26, 2010, 07:57:11 PM »
Got a new Droid Eris today. I downloaded an app that lets me scan a bar code on a bottle of beer, using the camera lense. The phone will then give me a description of the beer, IBU, SRM, etc, and tell a little about the brewer. It also tells me what food to pair the beer with. Is that totally unnecessary on a phone or what?  I LOVE it!!!!

The Pub / I HATE dentists.
« on: January 20, 2010, 01:59:44 PM »
Just gotta vent, dudes, so bear with me. I'm 32. Never had a cavity, or any dental work. Last time I was at the dentist, I was 16. So a few weeks ago, I find out that my Union dental plan was still in effect, even though I dropped out the the Local 33 almost a year ago. So, I decide to go in for a cleaning.
Get my teeth cleaned, and x-rays. Find out a have a cavity in my back molar, and two wisdom teeth have to come out. Fast forward a couple weeks (last tues. to be exact) And I go in to get them yanked. I had to be knocked out cold I was so freaked out. That was some good stuff!!! But, that's a whole other story. Dentist yanked two wisom teeth, had to dig for one. Well, I have a slight case of TMJ, it never really bothers me, just some mornings, I cannot get my mouth closed for a while, and my jaw pops real loud when I chew.
Now, after the teeth yanking,  my jaw is killing my, constatly, and it pops every time I open or close my mouth. This really blows, and dentists are off my list. (this also explains my infrequent posting. That and the Batman video game  ;D)

I'm not saying anything is going on here, but if there were some changes even made at "Brewery 'de Weaze", and some whiskey were to be made (un-distilled of course  ;) ) where would a guy such as myself find a good mash recipe?
And for emphasis, I'm not saying anything fishy is going on here. (yet.  ;) )

General Homebrew Discussion / Black IPA done.
« on: December 11, 2009, 06:40:34 PM »
The beer is done and carbed, and came out great. The roasted barley seemed to take away the citrus of the all Cascade hop bill. A good beer, which will definatly be brewed again, on purpose next time.
