The Pub / Re: What's the Weather Like Where You Are?

Usually there's some stupid wind or rain storm that brings all the leaves down right around now or before...

I am thinking it is headed your way right now. :o

3 inches on the porch this morning; got out the snow shovel.
Will not be long and I will be making turns on it!  Yeehooo.

If you aee using Wyeast 3711, wouldn't it be a Saison IPA?  ;)

I would like to try one with Sorachi Ace and Citra.

:D You are right with 3711....does a french ipa sound odd?  saisonish ipa?  Belgium really is such a small country.... ;)

Just be sure to give it plenty of time to drop bright and clear. I have a keg on tap now and started drinking
it too soon IMO because it has really gotten nice towards the end of the journey. Wish I had
waited 3 more weeks before tapping.

I hear you Vert, I think I can manage to wait on this one.

I used this yeast recently in a sorachi/crystal saison....I started drinking it right away it was so good.  You know, doing farm chores like putting up hay...I just kept telling myself  I should be drinking it young whilst working in the field ;)  It is still hazy and almost gone. :(

My belgianish AIPA is rumbling and blowing at 65 right now.  Cheers.

Tebow show failed to disappoint!!!  :D

Um yea it did! ::)   Boo Hoo.

I listened to it on the radio after it got bad...um yea, most of the game.  You should have heard the "color analyst" Brian Greese ripping on Tebow.  The post game interview was a classic.
Yep, rebuilding here.

The Pub / Re: Springtime Mushrooms anyone finding them?

It doesn't really work to mow them and you end up with a big pile of mush in the lawn.

heh, Saturday I was lamenting the fact that many of the sodden dog piles were hidden by excessive leaf fall....yacko.!

I am done with mushrooms, winter is here this week.
I did, however, eat some Fusarium venenatum last night...Quorn.  Very tasty.

Looks like two shipments? Freshops and some Puterbaugh Pounds? ;D

Pardon a quick thread drift, those of you who know Dave @ freshops, what is the best way to get a hold of him?
Telephone?  Thanks

I love whole hops BTW.  The packed freezer is a sickness at my house.

I might be coerced into the Summit for bittering, not so much for flavor.  I would say the amarillo are playing the late role there.
Thanks for the post, I did look at the recipe wiki last night.  Nice resource.

The link to a complete set of CYBI is great, thanks.  Not sure which one is the Belgianish AIPA, but will research.

Its the weekend;  Cheers.

Thanks for the tips fellas.

Will try the rye, a little wheat...some sugar?
Ferment the 3711 cool...lower to mid 60's to bring some spice but not as much phenol.

Thanks for the ideas.  Different strokes is what makes the beer craft interesting.  8)

Cheers.

55 minutes of pure crap followed by 5 minutes of frantic comeback.

Well, they are TOBOWING around the country.  The kid is a lightning rod!
You may want to reconsider the black lava porter whatnot. :D

I want to make one, and am looking for some tips or a recipe.
True, I have not done a lot of research, but thinking about something like a triple with lots of hops?
A hoppy saison?

I will be using wyeast 3711.

How about it?

Numbers shumbers.  Folks in the NFL study up.  Like they are not preparing for a Tebow skill set game plan?

Sorry, I should be stoked, I know.  We are on a win streak with the lowly Lions  :-\  coming to town.

That's not going to work long term.

My thoughts exactly.

I saw this picture recently and thought of you.  heh.

Beer Recipes / Re: Amber Ale: To Dry Hop or Not to Dryhop?

I recently had my local's Imperial Red ("TBC Red Dragon") which got the creative juices flowing...

I see you are going to have a nice red color there.  Cool.  Seems to me some nice dank aroma would be good.

I guess you could split the batch and dry hop one and not the other?
And then just give the non dry hopped one to your friends... ;)
