Those guys that did that had to be some of the bravest men that ever lived.  I can't imagine what it must have been like to do that.  The world is a much better place because of their service and sacrifice!

Here, here!

My grandfather enlisted in the mid-thirties and was a wireless radio (Morse code) operator aboard Hudsons (sub-hunting aircraft) for a good portion of the war.  One story that will always stick with me was when he was stationed in near Halifax and got a call from one of his men in the middle of the night - when he went to investigate, there was a U-boat in  the harbor! They had chains across the harbor preventing them from getting too close, but felt he needed to investigate anyway - he talked a fisherman into taking him out into the harbor in his dory.  The whole time the U-boat had its spot light trained on them so my grandfather pretended to play out the fisherman's nets and got their assess back to shore.

I think I'll go pour myself another in honor of those that landed on Juno Beach and Operation Neptune.

I thought someone spiked my coffee this a.m.  ;D

Looking very nice!

Thanks - at this rate, they'll hit the top of the trellis (~15 ft) by early July.  I'm already seeing lateral runners, so that's a good thing, maybe I'll get to harvest before mid- September.

From left to right: Mt Hood, Zeus and Goldings.

These are all second year plants.  I'll give the Goldings another year to prove themselves, then I might have to use that space for something that will actually grow.

Edit: Its my ability with a camera that is crooked, not my shed and yard.  :-\

I'll bet it's driven by a little old, gray haired, lady. The same one I get behind every time I'm on 2 lane road.

What gave it away, the left turn signal flashing?  :D

Rapture?  Isn't that Toronto's NBA team?    :D

I'm hoping the rain will pause long enough for me to get the veggie garden in.

Andy - not Futurama?  With a Bender avatar I'd have expected that to be on the list.  That's one of my favourites.  Watched all the new episodes when I was in the States.  Glad it's back.

Futurama?  Of course!   ;)  It just slipped my mind since I haven't seen any new episodes expet the recent movies/DVDs - hopefully some station in Canada picks it up soon.

Has no one watched Bob's Burgers?  Its on Fox and fairly new.  It cracks me up the way The Simpson's used to (let's be honest, The Simpson's has been pretty lame for a few years now) and the way Family Guy & American Dad still do.

There is a big mess to clean up. We just picked up the empty milk jug...

This is a big step, but this is far from over. I'm worried about the reprisals.

If we really want to show them what freedom and democracy are all about, we'll have to stick it out for another 10 years or so - rebuild schools & hospitals and have an entire generation of boys and girls pass through those schools.  Hopefully, when those kids take for granted that freedom and education into adulthood, we may be able to walk away.

If we leave a power vacuum, some other dog will try to set up shop...

...  College is overrated!  The only point to go to college these days, is to get a degree in something useful, like medicine, engineering, computer science...
I majored in Geography...GEOGRAPHY!  What the hell are you suppose to do with that?  It's like majoring in philosophy...seriously?
Even if you go to grad school the best you'll do is getting a research job that pays squat or maybe, if you so desire, can become a professor.

... you can do this:

I got a 2-year tech. school degree...Just in case.

I've got a diploma in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) from a tech college.  Its basically applied Geography - many of my co-workers have degrees in Geography or Geology, and then went to a tech for GIS.  I'm a civil servant - its not gonna make me rich, but its steady work, with decent benefits & pension.  I don't always love it (or even like it), but I go home happier at the end of the day than I did in my previous career (IT/tech support, which I hated).

Nice moment. For us newbies, who's who?

Weaz is the one with no pants.

Critics are irrelevant, self-important, leaches.  The list of popular hits that were panned by critics is an astoundingly long one.

I agree.

I haven't read the books yet, but the wife is somewhere in the middle of book 2 and has been looking forward to the series for months now - she enjoyed episode 1.  I liked it too (I had no real expectations, I was just happy that there was a new fantasy type series) - my biggest beef was that the fake snow looked like fake snow on a sound stage.

My plants are second year - I've poked around them a bit this spring and noticed 3 or 4 times the number of shoots getting ready to come up than I had last year.

Just wondering where you got yours?  I'm not finding many suppliers that will ship to Canada.

Sorry, haven't been on the forum in a couple days...

These guys are in BC and its who I got mine from.  The normally start taking orders in Feb, but a quick check shows they still have some left.

There's another farm not too far from me that club members have bought from (we found them on kijiji).  They only have Fuggles and Cascade.  PM me if you want more details and I can contact them for you if you want.
