Ingredients / Re: Are mash hops old fashioned?
« on: November 06, 2011, 07:52:32 AM »
I think it does work, but FWH is a better technique. Back in the day I added lots of mash hops - back in the day when hops were a third of the price they are now. Hops are too expensive to waste on the technique now, IMO.

. I swear, your skin starts to smell like McDonalds after eating there. And it doesn't smell good.

So totally true, and I won't go into details about what happens the next day after that first cup of coffee.

It was a great game. Lotsa fun. Too bad about the loss but Alabama really should have won that game. 3 missed field goals and a really stupid goal line interception that really shouldn't have been an interception cost them the game. IMO Alabama should remain #2. OTOH LSU definitely has the better special teams team.

Great game! Congrats to LSU!

I wonder if I'm the only one on the forum that both lives in Alabama and has a spouse that is an Alumna.

Anyway, I'm drinking IPA now. We are going to a neighbors house to watch the game around a bonfire and I am bringing a growler of Yellowhammer Saison de la Chasse, then will probably be drinking my IPA again when that's kicked.

Oh, and the obligatory "Roll Tide" inserted here. :D

four oz per bbl may be more accurate than hyperbole. I just brewed a belgian dubbel today. Less than 3 oz per bbl to reach 17 BUs.

Not a big fan of krinkle cut fries either.

My order of fries, from best to worst (that I've had) are

1 Five Guys (best burgers too)
2 McDonalds (when hot and fresh out the grease)
3 Wendy's (2nd best burgers)
4 Taco Hell
5 Burger King

Really? I hate BK's fries. Absolutely the worst IMO. When I was in college I used to love BK but the last time I ate there was probably 5 years ago. They do smell good when you drive by but the last hamburger I ate there did not sit well at all. Didn;t help that the place was nasty on the inside.

I can't say anything about "whataburger" as I have never had one. But McDonald's fries are the best fast food fries when they are hot out the basket. If they wait under a heat lamp for a few minutes they turn to garbage. Wendy's hamburgers arre usually better than McDonald's though. Agree they don't seem as good as they once did.

Euge...you are a brave soldier. Thanks for the review. I'll take your word for it and avoid the insipid looking McRib. I hope you don't get a case of the McRuns.  ;D

Thanks bro!

McRuns .... *snicker*  :D

I personally don't care one way or the other. If someone acts like a jerk the mods here will take care of it whether we know your real name or not. ;)

Which begs the question:  "Mr. Prosit, what does your middle initial Y. stand for?"  :)

Too Funny!

OK guys guess I'm the guinea pig. Went to the Micky D's across from work. Got me a McRib meal (fries & Dr Pepper). Three things I rarely eat.

First two bites were pretty tasty. The rest was pretty insipid and tasteless. Had to douse it with sriacha in order to finish the last couple of bites.

Now I have incipient heartburn and feel my IQ dropping fast. How does this phone thingy work?

Don't waste your money gentlemen.

Thanks for tanking one for the team, bro!!  :D

I am a runner, work out nut and health food junky *normally* but every now and then I get a hankerin' for a quarter pounder with cheese, fries and a coke. I just can't help myself. I also like Wendy's hamburgers. That said, if I eat a fast food hamburger I feel pretty nasty the rest of the day, like it has messed up my bio rhythm or something. Road trips aside I may get a fast food cheeseburger 2-3 times a year.

Actually, the egg McMuffin is not a terribly unhealthy breakfast as long as you don't get the hash browns. Their coffee isn't great IMO but it is better than any other fast food.

We definitely don't get any trick or treaters out here - too far from civilization. My kids drive 40 minutes to my parents house to trick or treat their neighborhood. I came home early from work today to wait for repairman. I have been getting into their candy all afternoon. I've had Milk Duds, Dots, Snickers, Twix and some Star bursts so far. Littlest one just got home so I guess that candy box is now shut down.

How is Halloween candy health food? :D

ha ha busted...

Hey, I never said I didn't splurge on candy once in a  while. I've also been known to drink far too much, as well.
