Brewed an American Brown, inspired by Tasty's Janet's Brown Ale.

Classifieds / Corona Mill For Sale $35+Shipping

I bought a Barley Crusher and won't need my corona mill anymore.  It works great.  I would get 70-75% efficiency.  It doesn't have a handle because I used thread-lock on a bolt that has the head cut off.  To operate attach a corded drill to the headless bolt then pull the trigger.  If you are interested, PM me so that I can figure out shipping costs.

General Homebrew Discussion / Splendid Table did a segment on session beers
« on: November 13, 2010, 11:53:06 PM »

I tend to brew nothing but session beers (eg, OG in the the 1040s), and resort to scaling down big recipes down so that I can have a session alternative.  It is nice, then, that session beers are starting to get some attention.  For a while there was the Imperial-this-&-that rage, so I am glad that some breweries are making good low alcohol beers.

Andy Crouch believes that there is a beer out there for everyone. He directs us to focus on the flavors we already enjoy tasting, such as sweet fruits, roasted coffee, or bitter hops to discover what we like and order our next pint with confidence.

I am going to try my hand at an APA with a Belgian yeast.  I am still looking for a good recipe.

Beer Travel / Re: Suffolk/Norfolk Virginia

Here is a thread I started about VA Beach:

Being in Suffolk tends to be really inconvenient because I think you'll have to take one of the tunnels to get to Norfolk (I found out they pronounce it NarFuk) and VA Beach, and that can take as long as an hour sometimes.

Like the post above reads, hit the wine and beer shop for free tastings on Thursday. The guys as St. George's are really nice.  Have fun.

If you are downtown take the long walk or short cab ride to La Tuna, a classic ice house, in South Town.  It is across the street from the Blue Star.  BTW, ask for Joey at the Blue Star, he's the owner and brewer there and a very cool dude.

Have fun in SA.

Brewing a stout today and a pale ale on Saturday.  I am planning to keg my brown porter later tonight.

Brewing a Brown Porter.  Kegged an English Pale last night.

What temp did he ferment at?  I have had mixed results with Nottingham.  I always find it very perfumey/musky.

All Grain Brewing / Malteurop 2 row stat sheet
« on: September 26, 2010, 12:51:01 AM »
I bought a sack of Malteurop 2 row from RebelBrewer and was wanting to enter it into BeerSmith.  I was wondering if anyone had "yield/properties" information on this malt.

Thanks for the list.  I lived in Charlotte ages ago and am glad to see that there are so many new beer places to go.  I'll definately go do Brawley's.
