Once my 3 year family membership runs out I'll probably just get two of the lifetimes for my wife and I but a comparable price break would be nice.
Why not just get the family lifetime =700. instead of 1200. for you and your wife unless im reading it wrong.

Equipment and Software / Re: I bent my rod
« on: October 18, 2010, 05:47:32 PM »
You can straighten the rod but you will need to be able to determine how it's bent. That can be accomplished by spinning the roller and finding the high spot.  This is typically done on vee blocks with an indicator but you can also do it on a very flat table but you will need a way to find the high spot. Once you've determined the high spot, you will then need to tap it with a hammer (gingerly) to bring it back into the axis of rotation. Then spin it again to find the high spot and tap with hammer.  This can be repeated until the runout of the spindle is in check.

Otherwise...you will need to return it to the supplier for rework and/or replacement

+1    Also check the bushings on the crank side From what you said 1 or 2 migth be shot.

All Grain Brewing / Re: Necessary to Sparge with a HERMS system?
« on: August 30, 2010, 02:40:56 PM »
Not necessary because you are recirculating . Have about 1 inch of liquid covering your mash have a constant flow, not fast or you could end up with a stuck mash . Your conversion might happen faster than normal. Good luck.       Edit YES sparge .I think I had some of your cold meds.

Equipment and Software / Re: Propane Gas Burner - Major Soot Problem
« on: August 26, 2010, 06:30:47 PM »
I'm not sure why a 20 Lbs tank wont work. But on a site where they are sold says the burner wont work properly with a 20 lb tank. It says theses burners use a low pressure regulator . But double check where you order from it might use a high pressure regulator.

How big is your propane tank. 20Lbs will not work. You just may need a larger tank.

One thing to try. If you have an air compressor blow air through the gas inlet (2nd pic). One little bug or rust can make soot problem. I hope this will work. I also read some place you could close off some of the ports on the burner and it might help.
