Commercial Beer Reviews / Re: Founders
« on: November 13, 2009, 02:46:52 PM »
Well since I'm in Michigan now I figured I'd have to try some brews made here.  Wow!  Founders makes some decent beer .....

Try their Breakfast Stout or better yet their Kentucky Breakfast Stout and let us know if you still think their beers are just decent. My mouth is watering just thinking about this beer.

TF MO is a great malt. You might find your pale beers a little darker and the flavor a little maltier with TF grain. My HB club recently compaired TF malt to others and we found TF malt to be a little darker and the beers slightly maltier, especially with some of their roasted malts.

Names Darin, been brewing for about 7 years now. Been making wine for about 10. I brew all grain in my garage. It's nothing fancy, just your typical cooler mashing. I manage the website for my local homebrewclub, The Forest City Brewers (

I too have a blue mashtun. I find blue mash tuns work best for mashing.

I give them to my wife and she makes Peanut Butter dog biscuits. It's a funny site when I give her the grains, my dogs go nuts. They know when I giver her the grains that she's going to be making biscuits.

My dogs also love eating the raw barley too. It's not a bad snack while brewing to chew on a few.

I've used Promash, Beersmith, and Beertools and I have to say I prefer Beersmith. It's just overall seems a lot easier to use. I think it's the interface that jusat seems to suit me best.
